iPod whine and vibration
don't know if this will help anyone or if anyone has had this issue but, i did and it drove me nuts until i figured out what the deal was yesterday. not exactly a fix but, at least i stopped it. so if anyone else has noticed this, i've discovered the issue.
i had recently relocated my AUX in from under the center console to the glove box (previous owner had it under the toggles). this was due to the fact that my wife recently purchased a 8GB ipod nano 3G for me as a gift. since i was sick of using the cd changer i was happy to receive the nano and relocated the AUX to keep the nano concealed in case i forgot to remove it. i'm using an audio cable that plugs into the ipod dock to a mini jack
anyhow, i guess that's all irrelevant. the issue was that after i started using the ipod i had now found a new vibration coming from the passenger door accompanied by an almost inaudible high-pitched whine. was highly irritating. it didn't always happen and when it did i found myself leaning over to push on the door to try to get it to stop.
yesterday i figured out what the deal was. i had the "lock" on the ipod activated so if for some reason the ipod got jostled, it wouldn't shuffle or pause etc. the "lock" it turns out was creating an intermittent signal that was creating the whine and the frequency was in turn routing through the passenger door speaker and causing the vibration. turned the lock off and the vibration stopped. also with the ipod not playing i turned the lock on ond off and confirmed the disruption in the signal.
