Best Garmin Nuvi?

all,

I am looking for a GPS system for my directionally challenged 16 year old. I am locked in on a Garmin NUVI, but they have a pretty broad range (ie 300 series, 600 series, etc). I dont really need all the bells and whistles (ie MP3 player, real time traffic). What do you all recommend and where have you seen the best prices? Thanks!

I love my nuvi 350, and it does everything I need and more. Amazon has it for $260 or so (much better than the $800 I spent on it in August 2006!):

Don't forget to update it with all the MINI goodies :

My wife didn't want the extras so I got her a Nuvi 200. Unless your 16 yo is planning a trip to Europe it should work just fine for him. $177 at Amazon.

Unless I am mistaken, the MINI accessory GPS is a Nuvi 360. The only difference between the 350 and the 360 is bluetooth for handsfree calling.

I got the nuvi 360. There are many good ways to mount it but because this is the same one that the dealer sells, you have the option of buying the bracket and mounting it yourself for much lower cost than the dealer. The bracket comes with a power cable that integrates into the dash. You can also program it to use the same splash screen and vehicle icons as the dealer unit.

Thanks All. I ended up ordering the 650 on Costco.com for $299. It was only a bit more expensive than the 350 with all the same features but a bigger widescreen.

Do these files work on a 260W? If they do, how do you get them into the unit?

Consider the NUVI 250.....basic NAV functions only, but with the WIDE screen. I bought one of the models higher on the food chain and feel I just wasted a lot of money.

My wife just got me a Nuvi 200 for my birthday.
I read all about this .srf file. I did go to that download site, the mac one.
But I have more basic questions maybe. I read the garmin manual it says
to upload photos and such put them in the jpeg folder.

I only have the following folders diag gpx
and one file there.

The garmins screen just says garmin and has a pic
of a computer.

I went to the garmin site and it wasnt helpful.
I've been searching NAM for a long time.

She got it on ebay used but in perfect condition.
(appears the guy took it to europe and used it once,
probably had a better one in his car)

Can somebody point me to a starting point?
I don't mind doing legwork but I am totally clueless
on where to start. It did not come with a disk but
did have all the accessories.

Thanks.
