iPhone/DICE-HD ...kidding, right?

OK, got my iPhone and plugged it into the DICE-HD unit. I already knew about the recharging problem (Apple changed the pins they used for recharging so the cable won't charge...DICE is working on a new cable).

However, what I noticed was that once connected, the screen becomes unusable (some message comes up saying that an accessory is attached). I can no longer navigate like I could with my "older" iPod Nano. Only way now is via the playlists and the head unit or MFSW...I have some playlists that are pretty long; using the arrow keys to slowly go throughthe list one song at a time to find the specific one I want is a non-starter.

Is this wrong behavior (i.e. will be fixed with the new cable) or is this the best I can expect? Cuz if this is all I get, I'm yanking it out and inserting a aux jack...

normal behavior for the newer ipods (classic, touch, iphone)
Just how it is. From what i remember reading from a post from a DICE guy, it's an apple rule they have to follow to be apple to keep their liscense. Sucks, but it's how it is

But you should be able to use the micro switches on the DICE (I got the Silverline) to switch to the other mode for the iPod that allows you to navigate the iPod but won't give you text nor control from the HU.

But that's why I bought the DICE, so I could use my car controls. Otherwise a $40 aux port is a whole lot cheaper.

I stand corrected, I'm sorry :(
Tried it with the Silverline and it works,
Allows me to control the iPod via Radio and Steering wheel controls as well as on the iPod directly.
But doesn't give you the text on the radio.
On mine it shows * * till I change the track, the it shows the track numbers.

I find this mode the best for me. Hope the iPhone loading cable is soon ready
