I don't have the OEM nav system nor the iPod adaptor, but you can definitely can control it in said manner. That's actually one of the main advantages to getting the adaptor. You can also control it via the steering wheel mounted audio controls if you plan on speccing the MFSW. Only issue you should take note of, which has been coming up here on NAM as of late, is capacity. Apparently the iPod adaptor only has the ability to display 250 songs/artists/albums/playlists.

As well as getting the NAV, you also have to get the iPod Integration. I believe you can navigate the iPod on the NAV screen with it. I know it will list tracks in playlists, and by album, etc. However, there are limitations. IIRC, a single list will only show 255 titles, so your playlists have to be organized to be below 255 tracks.

There are many threads here discussing the limitations and benefits of the iPod Integration. Use the search function to find them.

If you can hold out until cars in the US start shipping with the USB port and you're getting the bluetooth prep included, you can pick up a USB/Aux Jack adapter cable from Mini that will let you control an iPod- other markets like the UK have had them for a few months, and we're supposed to see it soon too.

As far as I know, nobody knows :D

Maybe keep an eye on the Production Week 49 thread, I believe that's the first production week putting out the 08's. Many of them should be seeing delivery within a few days, if they get released from the Vehicle Distribution Center soon.

I'm sure there'll be a chorus of posts all over the place once they do start showing up.

Hopefully the new USB interface will enable a much improved iPod control solution in the '08 MINIs.

I seriously doubt it. The USB port has been available for most of the world for quite some time now (i.e. since August of 2007), and from the looks of it, it uses the exact same control method (and has poorer sound quality as well due to the way the USB iPod adapter works).

I heard that playlist sluggishness may be due to not letting the system cache the iPod playlist. Once it does, everything runs quicker. This applies to the convenience package connection in the center console (NOT the hidden compartment / glovebox connection).

Can anyone comment on Navi iPod navigation for a system that has time to sync (cache; connected to the car for some time), and that is connected via the convenience package option?

I'm going to get an 08 Clubman if that makes a difference.

Thanks all!
