2002 MCS non-HK stereo, help... Can I hook up my iPod?

So iwant to hook up my ipod and dont want to use a FM transmiter, I have a 2002 MCS non HK cd player. I have found many diferent things online but they all see to be fore 2003 and up is that true, also does anyone know how the stock stereos are wired? could I replace the head unit with a after market one , after buying the wire connection kit from a stereo store? Also is there a amp in the car that I would have to by-pass and if so does anyone know the OHM rating on the factory speaks. but most imporatly can I hook my Ipod up to my current OEM cd player?
thanks for the help I have been to every car stereo store in the area. (tweeter, best buy, circute city, and custom shops) no one has been any help.

Unfortunately, while the same physically, the early '02 cars do not support the Aux-in. You CAN get another later model OEM headunit, though.

You need a blitzsafe adapter that converts your CD changer connection into a RCA connection. I don't remember where to get one but you can start looking here.
