Alarm Phases

Ok, I got the factory alarm, and when I first engage it, it does the heartbeat, but after a while it just blinks. Is this normal? I looked in the owners manual, and all it says it different light patterns mean different things, and to consult the alarm owners manual, which i didnt get. So I called the dealership and they said my car was the first car to come through with the alarm, and they dont know. Does anyone know what this means, or has experiencecd this?

I think it's normal as well. Unfortunately from what I understand there isn't a manual on the alarm system. At least my MA told me there wasn't and I've yet to come across one. I was able to find out though that you can deactive the internal sensors by pressing the lock button on the fob twice. You cannot choose to not activate the alarm, you can only not activate the internal sensors. I asked about that since I have pets and didn't want the alarm going off if I had to lock them in the MINI (with the window cracked open or sunroof open of course) for any period of time.
