NAV Antenna

Can anyone with a NAV system tell me if the antenna on the roof also connected to the NAV? I would not think so. I want to replace it, but don't want to mess with it if it's connected to the NAV.

I was under the impression that the antenna on the roof IS for the NAV. The radio antenna is in the rear passenger glass.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

The Nav antenna is inside the base of the roof antenna. The mast of the roof antenna is for the radio. Hatchbacks (not the convertible) also have a second antenna (called the "diversity" antenna) in the rear window. A circuit selects the signal from the roof or rear window antenna, whichever has a stronger signal.

I love this forum. Thanks for your help. So, I should be able to replace the mast with a stubby one, correct?

Correct, a stubby antenna mast will not affect Nav. In fact, I have Nav and use a short antenna.
