Feedback via laptop thru Aux IN

I'm getting a horrible bit of feedback when listening to iTunes through my laptop when connected via the Auxillary In...

Any suggestions?

Is your laptop connected to the car's power (cigarette lighter), or only using its battery? If on the cigarette lighter, see what happens when you run only battery power.

I have a similar situation when I play movies on my laptop through the AUX input, although it's just a little alternator whine rather than full-blown feedback.

rkw's suggestion about seeing what happens when you run on battery power only is your best bet. If you're powering the laptop from the car's electrical system, you probably have a ground loop.

I was using a Belkin Power Inverter and the laptop cord.... that's probably it. I'll check it out in a little bit and repost

thanks for the prompt response by the way

When I got the alternator whine, I was using an APC inverter and the laptop's cord as well.

If that turns out to be the problem, you can probably resolve it with a ground loop isolator like this: http://www.crutchfield.com/S-pP8AukR...90&I=127SNI135 or something similar from Radio Shack.
