Egon, you paid $1400 for the HiFi upgrade??? Wasn't it a $400(or was it 500?) add on?
Put down the cellphones, too - life keeps going if you can't charge it in the armrest, TRUST ME!!!

Yeah, the Audio Package (Sirius, 10 speaker, HD Radio, etc.) is $1400.....

Get some Marley in there already!
It ain't me. Not my photos, I was quoting.

Right now, I'm listening to Kanako Wada, and I'm sure I'm the only one on NAM who is.

Check the song title. It was specially chosen for the photo: "I'm in Love With My Car"

Just got a phone call from my MA -- he received a memo today stating that an optional usb port would become available in the US. He's going to watch and see when it comes up on the order systems.

Does this mean a USB port available for cars already produced?

Lordy this is going to resemble the rear fog issue when everyone clammored for a rear fog light (me included) and BMW MINI wouldn't retrofit. :-)

No idea on the retrofit concept. This was the first my MA had heard about it. (Officially, anyway, as I had been bugging him about this for a week.)

Hey, what's the matter with Queen? Besides, whoever took that photo chose it for the title of the song.

WOW, was the Sirius THAT much extra??? YIKES!! I checked, the normal hifi upgrade is $550 extra.

And yes, life goes on without cellphones charging, BUT, life will NOT go on for MINI if they don't make it work after charging us MONEY for it as an add-on!! On the other hand, notbody was charged any money for a USB port they did not get.

And PS- I HATE ipods!!! :impatient

The $1400 is for the Audio package. When you look at the cost for all three in an a la carte manner, the prices go like this:

Hi-Fi - $550
Sirius - $950 (with lifetime subscription)
HD Radio - $500

So, if you want all three, or even if you want just Sirius and Hi-Fi, it makes sense to get the package.

- Well, I don't understand PAYING for radio, especially for a "lifetime". Buying anything for "life" in electronics isn't a great deal. I once bought a lifetime subsciption to the Columbia House 8-track music club. Sounded good at the time!! Why not just listen to your IPOD???

-I don't understand what HD radio even is. HD is for video! Are you sure you folks aren't gettin' taken on this one???

- The Hifi is expensive for a little amp and an extra speaker, but I guess it's worth it, almost.

the Hifi system is a little amp, and two little speakser and two little subs. 8 to 10 speaker upgrade with a digital amp. not cheap but not a complete ripoff.

No need for a HD radio for me, BUT - no one should make fun of that option that needs Park Distance Control in a MINI of all things!!

Whats next - Fuel guage reminder that you are at 75% remaining???

BTW - Birdman, you make this forum a little more exciting and you are DS man like me.. much love..

HD radio is a similar concept to the term for video. It's a digital radio signal that is supposed to roughly equate to CD quality. There's a number of radio stations in the Seattle area broadcasting in "HD". BestBuy and Walmart have been pusing ads here pretty heavily. One of the interesting additions with the HD radio, is that many stations are broadcasting a second set of audio.

Of course, there's a website: http://www.hdradio.com/how_does_hd_d...radio_work.php

Just to even out the iPod haters, they released a new iPod today that holds 160 gb and is only $350! That would be my ultimate pick!

And I too don't see the point of HD radio or Sirius for that matter!

Just bought the 160gb iPod today.

Just bought the $1500 hiFi/HD/Sirius upgrade and the $500 iPod integration last month.

Am going to LOVE it all.

To each his own as someone said a couple pages back. Why tell others what they *should* have and what they *shouldn't* have?? Get what you want.

Holls,

Ditto, except I haven't picked out which Ipod I will use yet. The new models with WiFi integration look interesting.

But I love that Windows program. Isn't that the one that makes a PC act like the Macintosh operating system? Talk about innovation.

My friend has a Mac laptop and the really funny thing about it is that it actually runs Windows XP/Vista on it. Wow! I don't see any PC's running the Mac OS. So whose chasing who here???

D'oh!

Actually, I love my wife and so her safety comes first for me (hence the horrible run flats).

Good one though.
