are these kuda mounts available for the R56's in the UK? right hand drive.

The Kuda mounts are not directional, they go over the "hump" in the middle of the dash. I know that for my R52 cabrio it could work for left or right - I'd assume it would be the same with the R56 generation. I had a great experience with buying from Kuda and quick response when I asked them questions. Here's their website: http://www.kudausa.com/

I just noticed they have a UK website as well, but it looks to be all about truck accessories.

Actually, on my R52, I tried mounting the Kuda mount to the right of the "hump" just for grins, and it didn't fit. The Kuda mount follows the contours of the dash edge very closely, so it only fits tightly when installed on the left side of the hump.
On the right side of the hump, the dash edge is slanted the other way (down and to the right instead of up and to the right), so the cutouts in the Kuda mount won't follow the edge of the dash. You might get it to fit, but there will be gaps between the mount and the dash, and it likely won't be as rigid as it would if you mounted it on the left side of the hump.

Celica. it looks like you removed the driver's dash trim and the speedo cover/vent covers leaving all the other things in place. I have my power wire behind the dash trim and following the groove on the right between the vent cover and the speedo. I would like to get in behind the vent cover for a cleaner job. Other then the two screws under the dash vent at the top of the speedo how many other screws did you have to remove to get the speedo/vet covers off?

I just went to the Kuda site to order the side mount which I want to use for my cell phone. I clicked that in the divice group and it said I did not need an add on. Does it come with that holder?

I followed all your instructions and all went well until I tried to find a ground. Everything under that dash is plastic and I can not find a metal to metal ground point anywhare. I am going from the fuse box directly under the passanger foot well. Any ideas??

I grounded mine on the top right screw that holds the fuse box to the body. Worked fine so far at 3000 miles. Its kind of hard to get too but can be done.

The Garmin installation (which I use also) reminds me of last week when I used the GPS. When I got home I "gently" pulled the DC power from the outlet & the entire outlet came out! Have to go back to the dealer for something else so they can fix it then, but, why would the dc outlet come out? Don't they attach them to something down under???

i think i mentioned it somewhere in this thread. i used the screw to the left of the glovebox seen when opened. anyway, good luck with everything!

If you have a Soldering Gun (100W was plenty)
I soldered my ground to the sheet metal seen inside in upper forward corner:

This was very easily done and I am confident of a 'good' ground.
I also fished the wires inside, entirely behind the side panel.

i've been looking for an easily accessible cleaner "ground" especially now that i have my carpc setup. i'm going to try that piece of metal. thanks. yeah, i should take new pictures of my tucked away wiring, but i do have it running behind that trim piece.

I just got a Nuvi 755T for Christmas. I've downloaded the SRF Mini car files from the link I found here on NAM to my computer, but how do I get them uploaded onto the Nuvi?

Project is now complete and I owe a large thanks to all here for their assistance. As was said here before "there is more then one way to skin a cat" so I will re-cap the approach I took to add to the others.

First let me agree with Lancing74 that with the PartsExpress lighter plug the ribbed wire is power and the other ground.

I located the metal plate mentioned by Pilotart and drilled a hole in it inserting a small screw. I then crimped a "U" shaped connector on the ground wire, inserted it and tightened it down. I then added the Add-A-Circuit to F32 (facing forward by the way) and all worked first try.

I ran the wires from behind the panel with the fuse box, under the top of the passanger side floor mat and behind the center stack to the driver's foot well. I ran the power cord up through the MFSW opening and followed the same route as Lancing74 to the Garmin. The other end I dropped down into the driver's foot well, pluged it in and stuffed everything up behind the center stack. This seemed like the shortest route.

I really love the write-ups and how to's, it really helps those of us who are really new to all this succeed without great failure. One question on which fuse to use though, does either of those fuse locations provide power during start up? I ask because I'm thinking of getting a Pioneer AVIC-F500BT since they are so cheap now and they are known to have problems when the power cuts off during start up.

any help is appreciated.

The first location (shown in the picture) did not work for me. I then tried F32 (third row) and all is just fine. In the third row it plugs in opposite to what is shown for the center row which somebody mentioned elsewhere in this thread.

yeah f32 is ignition triggered. i had originally used f21 as in the picture which turns on when you unlock the doors and stays on after you shut the engine for 30 minutes like the radio. i now use F21 just to trigger my carpc to startup. F32 to power my accessories. the "hot or not" post in the electrical forums lists em all and what they do.
