Here's the updated response from MINI:
---------------------
Thanks for writing MINI. We appreciate your inquiry.
but if you
click on "Learn More" next to the iPhone, it shows that the iPhone will only be
compatible with MINIs produced after October 2007. At this time, we do not have any
information to indicate whether or not a software update will make this phone
compatible with 2007 MINIs produced before October. I apologize for any confusion
or disappointment this caused.
i.e., we're screwed.
This is totally unbelievable. If you look at every phone's "learn more" link, almost every phone has a disclaimer that it will work only with vehicles produced after XXXXX. Every date is different ! What a bunch of Morons...Can you imagine if computer software would only work with specifically dated versions of Windows? When is BMW going to realize that they totally suck at electronics? They have not even begun to produce vehicles in October 2007, so why is the Iphone even on the list ?

actually that is the way it works. most software will only work with certain versions of windows . Of course you can update to a newer version fairly easily if you need to.
What I don't understand is, why is there no armrest adapters available????
I think you meant to say, why aren't there nearly no armrest adapters available?
I obtained a Razr adapter a couple of weeks ago and it works just fine. Not sure where the rest of them are. What I liked was how it seemed like the right adapter for your car would be included as part of the bluetooth prep package. Didn't say anything on the configurator that it was an optional add-on and that there were virtually none available.

Exactly, but try to upgrade a MINI to the latest software version. Maybe MINi could put an RJ45 connector in the boot, and we could all log on to www.miniupdate.com
I updated my iPhone to 1.1.1 last night and re-paired my phone just a few minutes ago and my address book now works. I'll update again if anything changes but for now all is right in the MINI bluetooth/iPhone world.
Keep in mind that 1.1.1 update has taken a long time for some and a short time for others. My iPhone crashed and needed to be restored from scratch and it took about 3 hours.
Dock your iPhone to your computer, start iTunes, and click on the Check for Updates button in iTunes (which should be on the summary page for your iPhone connection in iTunes). You will be offered to update your iPhone to the latest v1.1.1 firmware (which just came out yesterday).
So where did you "buy" an armrest adapter?? There are NONE listed as available anywhere for the MINI?? Did you just buy a BMW one?
Yes, it's listed as a BMW product. Another NAM member in San Francisco recently had his new car outfitted with the Razr adapter and reported that it worked fine in his Mini.
Here's a link to an authorized BMW seller that shows the Razr cradle. It lists for $175 there. I ordered mine from Classic Mini in Ohio, which retailed for less than that and with its NAM discount came to $112.
