Help! Just installed XM Direct, but NO sound!

We just installed it this morning in my MCSC, and it comes up on the radio, loads and everything, but I have no sound.

I am wondering how to fix it! The only other thing that is attached to the HU is the OEM ipod adaptor.

A friend suggested that when they put that in, the disconnected the CD changer, if so, is it something that I can fix, or do I need to go into the dealer?

Thanks for any help

Not sure, but I know if you have a CD changer/iPod etc, you have to buy the right XM direct unit. I bought ours from Blitzsafe and they were pretty specific about the right unit.
unplug it and see what happens if you have everything else working as it was. Don't know why the hu would see the unit, but not have sound.

Do you have sound from your regular radio?

The sound is working from:
  • Radio
  • iPod
  • CD
We have the Blitzsafe form another person that had it in their MINI. The only difference is that we have HK and Nav, but if I recall, they didn't. The HU recgonizes it correctly, but no audio.

BTW, isn't it supposed to bring track info and stuff on the Nav screen? TIA

Try this:

Keep in mind, I don't have the HK radio so the buttons may be different on mine.

With the headunit in the XM Mode, push the "music note" button on the left side of the radio. Each time you push it, a different setting should come up. The settings should be; Treb, Bass, Fade, Bal, and AUX Input volume.

More than likely, the AUX INPUT VOLUME is turned down to zero. Try adjusting the input volume and see if that doesn't solve your problem.

I know when I installed my XM Direct, the volume was very low, and that was the problem.

The iPod adapter is the problem, it's disabled the 6-pin connector in the boot area. what Blitzsafe module part number are you using?

So, if I remove the iPod adapter, the XM Direct should work?

Not sure, got it used and didn't have anything on it but the Blitzsafe sticker on the front. It was in an '06 MCS though.

The iPod kit will need to be removed, your XM audio will return.

We have a specific DICE kit that will work with XM Direct:

DICE iPod Integration Kit for MINI Cooper/Cooper S

Let me know if you have any further questions.

Not trying to take a sale away from anyone, but if the iPod adapter is causing the problem, just take it out and install a MINI axu jack. You wouldn't have the features of the controling the IPod through the radio, but atleast you would have the ability to play your IPod through your radio at a lower cost.

I know that this will work with the XM unit, its what I have on mine.

It's really a simple issue. The head unit (it's identical for H/K and non-HK, note, wscruiser!) only has one CD changer input. This means that only one of the following items can be directly wired to the head unit at any given moment:
  • CD changer (duh)
  • OEM SIRIUS reciever
  • Blitzsafe XM adapter
  • OEM iPod adapter
  • Dension Ice>Link Plus iPod adapter
  • DICE iPod adapter
  • DICE:HD iPod adapter
Now, certain items, such as the OEM SIRIUS receiver and the Blitzsafe, also have a "passthrough" port, allowing you to still connect the CD changer (or a device that emulates the CD changer, such as one of the iPod adapters).

Bottom line, you can't connect both the Blitzsafe and the OEM iPod adapter directly to the head unit at the same time and have everything working.
