Bummer!!!

When I purchased my MINI, my salesman told me of the Nuvi nav system made for MINI. Showed me their demo unit, and I got excited! So I bought it, and they had to order it since the release date was June 1st.

Drop it off yesterday for them to install it...get a call this morning saying they could not install it because the wiring harness is different for a cabrio, and as of now, no way to install it! So, they're cutting me a check...he told me that Best Buy has a very similar unit and is about the same price.

However, I'm moving from Dallas to Austin in a couple weeks, and now that I've got the 850 back in my pocket, I'm thinking of using it to cover moving expenses...It was different when the 850 was included in my monthly payments, but now with a single check, I'm thinking of other ways to spend it...

We travel extensively (dad, brother & I) and we have Tomtom's that seem to do the job for us. We are in all parts of the country(out in the sticks) and have never had problems with our tomtom's helping us to find our way. With the buddy systems we can see where each other are, get weather and its bluetooth to boot. I would stay away from the 299 tomtom one as the window mount is not worth it but the Go510 & then the better Go910 are worth it. The 910 has a built in 20gb hard drive and 510 uses an SD Card. I upgraded my card to 2gb and have more than enough storage. Good luck with your move and choice for Nav.

The install kit IS available!! Have your parts department order the NUVI nav WITH install kit. There is two different ways you can order the nuvi...the combo of NUVI and install kit OR just install it. Order the combo!!!

I have a TomTom One and it works great! The window mount has never been a problem. I use it daily in my MINI and have taken it all over the country (Honolulu, Orlando, Boise, Hailey, Palm Desert, Philiadelphia, San Francisco, etc.). Best $249 I've spent!

For real? I've been racking my brain thinking about how this could be possible...that the dealer can't figure out how to make it work, and it simply didn't make sense. Thanks for the info! I'm calling the dealer tomorrow.

Will keep you posted.

Anybody want to post a pic of where you have your TomTom or like unit mounted. I am thinking of getting one, and really dont have a clue as to where it would go without interfering with something else. Thanks, do appreciate it!
