MTH Tuner file for MINI cooper - cooling fan issue?

Hello,

I loaded my MTH tuning file on my Cooper with JCW Sound Kit and have been driving for a couple of days. The performance improvement is defnitely there, however, I have notice that my Cooper has been cycling the electric cooling fan a lot more. This is weird given the temps in Toronto are between 0 degrees celcius and 6. Out of curiosity I loaded the original ECU file back and the cooling fan activity has stoppped.

Anyone had a similar issue? Mine is the latest MTH file.

OK I had reloaded the MTH file...and the same thing is happening Ran the car all day on it in very cool weather and the fan comes on almost every stop light. Reloaded the JCW flash and all is fine.

Coolant is fine so I can't understand the issue.....it has to be the tuner file..

Don? any suggestions? I am not going to reload until it gets sorted....don't want to melt my engine!

Sounds like there might be an issue with the file for sure. I'm sure they can get it sorted for you. Did you buy from Don? Also, don't get too frustrated over e-mail right now, it is hit and miss. I think one fo the primary DNS routers was under attack and made e-mail miserable. Best to give him a call.

Nothing to worry about !

MTH changes the cooling-fan system to operate at lower degree !

MINI uses the following levels for water-temp:
Level 1 - 105°C
Level 2 - 111°C
Level 3 - 117°C

MTH uses these levels for water-temp:
Level 1 - 95°C
Level 2 - 100°C
Level 3 - 105°C

So, just check your cooling-water if there is enough in.

You can ask MTH to send you a file with standard fan operation. I didn't like the fan running all the time and they made the change in the software. Got the new software in a couple of days.
