Question for JCW Owners ...>>

I just loaded the tuner file and it seems to cause the car to be a bit "jerky" on normal driving.

however, on wot the car pulls like a ****.

it seems to be best at agressive driving, and when you want to drive casual, it still wants to race.

anyone with this experience?

The factory JCW seems pretty smooth at no load, constant load or WOT. On decel, it excretes a delightful farting sound.

Minibull, I've got the tuner file on my JCW, and haven't experienced the jerkiness you've described. I have noticed better throttle response, so perhaps what you are noticing is the improved throttle response. If that's the case, I think the car will get smoother as you adapt your driving to its improved responsiveness. In all honesty, I'd prefer the responsiveness, since I can modify my driving style to accomodate it.

I too noticed the jerky-ness after Helix installed the 19% pulley and the GIAC software on my JCW. I think I just got used to it because I haven't thought of it in a while until your post. It's just the additional power! Love it!

to try to enhance the cars power. It is for “aggressive” driving! The downside is that you might lose some drivability though I have yet to experience it. The MTH software adjusts the air/fuel ratio, timing, rev limiter, and DSC. An overwhelming majority of this tuning however takes place in the open loop rather than closed loop.
For the first time one of my customers has complained of the symptoms found in this thread: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...d+%22Hiccup%22
The trouble is that the symptoms described in the thread have yet to be properly documented. I have tested the A/F at low RPMs in 2nd and 3rd gears. Yes, the MTH A/F goes lean but it does not leave the “acceptable” range. The stock software does the same thing – it is not an MTH problem. Dr. O has observed and noted the same thing (though he thinks the A/F does leave the acceptable range) and has concluded (I believe) that the condition seems to be common to all MCS’s with or without MTH software. Let me reassure you, MTH does address this condition best they can. It should not be a concern.
I think what is upsetting to those who have complained is that they are not used to driving with a “touchy” throttle. But that is the entire point of tuning – rapid throttle response. And I even go as far as tuning my bypass valve to enhance my throttle response.

Don,

I must say that the responsiveness of the throttle has certainly improved and the power available is amazing vs. stock.

I think I just need to drive the car and put some miles on it.

See you next week.
