Mine MINI One (MTH) vs MINI Cooper (standard)

I drive an One (2005) with remapping of MTH.
At the moment I drive a Cooper (2006) of the dealer, because some damage on my own MINI. But I can't say that mine remapped One is quicker and faster than a standard Cooper.

Ok, the toplimit is higher than the standard One (we have two MINI One's); about 204 km/h and the other about 183 km/h. Last weekend I drove 190 km/h at the German Autobahn, and I feel it was not the limit.

But still mine One does not give me the feeling that he is quicker than a standard Cooper, I don't know how to feel: humbugged? Next MINI I will go to MTH or Hitec in Germany and do not handle with a dealer. Of course, another tuner is also a possibility.

I know, I've been a couple times in the US and Canada. Maybe this summer again, this time to the west coast. The maximuspeed is between 55 Mile/h (90 km/h) and 65 Mile/h (105 km/h) isn't it? Here in the Netherlands is the maximumspeed 120 km/h.

I still don't know about the feeling. Tomorrow I get my MINI back and I will pay attention to the respons of the accelerator. Also I'll wait the respons of John Cooper Works because of the rear swaybar. That is another difference between the One and Cooper. The Cooper have it, but the One not! There are no brackets at the subframe to install a swaybar.

There would be no brackets, but are the *holes* there ?

Yes there are... have you a solution?
The MINI's with a swaybar have holes too as you can see on the pictures here below.
The picture in the attachment is a picture of my MINI.

Thanx anyway for your help!

It's not quite clear from the picture - but if you look at my modified attachemen the holes would be on top of the piece we are looking at ?

I'm a bit surprised...

the difference between the engine performance of the One and the Cooper is supposadly just the ECU map. But there's a lot of variability in our cars.... Also other things to look at are wheel diameters and the like. This can make a change in effective gearing.....

Why didn't I bought a Cooper?

I can't complain: my brother and I, we both got a brand new MINI One with some options we want of our parents. He has silver and I PW.

This is fascinating actually as some had proposed buying a One, chipping it, and...viola...now you have a Cooper. Apparently it's not that simple.

Since Ones aren't available in the U.S. we have very little experience w/ it's tuning capacity, so few here will be able to intelligently add input concerning your dilemma. It is very interesting though.

I know what you mean, but it wasn't the plan...
My brother and I we both get a brand new MINI of our parents. As you know, the prices of cars in The Netherlands are very high because a special tax (40% higher than in for example Belgium and Germany). We both had a limit to spent with some saving money of our own. The choich was a Cooper without or less ptions or an One with more option like airco.

When we had the MINI's we get interested in tuning and that kind of things. So it was not the plan to buy an One and make it a Cooper. There are some people who buy an One and let spay the roof in black or white. We don't, we have an One and don't let people think it's a Cooper. I like more the idea of a wolf in sheepclothts than a sheep in wolfcloths.

Hi there!

About a couple weeks I'll have a throttle body of a original Cooper!
At that moment there will be no mechanical difference between my One engine and a Cooper engine.

This will maybe solve the problem that I 've to "wait" so long he is at 4000 tpm and has his max. torque. Now t will have earlier the gas input.

Throttle body info:
One has 52mm
Cooper has 57mm
Cooper S has 58mm
