Getting original software back?

Hi

I have a Cooper with JCW soundkit. This kit includes a ECU update. I have fitted a MTH header and updated the software with the special MTH tuner file

My question:

Can I go back to the stock/original MINI software? I dont have the original file here. Is possible to get it back?

my first inclination is to say no. You would probably have to have the dealer remove the JCW ecu update and reload the most current ecu software. But since there have probably been some software updates (not knowing what year your Cooper is) you won't be able to get your "original" software back.

Did you send MTH a file that you downloaded from your ecu? If so, that file can be reloaded to bring the car back to the state it was in prior to the MTH header/tuner file, but would still contain the JCW sound kit.

I'm not sure this answers your question or not, feel free to ask more questions. There are others here that can help you better than I can.

A tuner here did it for me with his laptop. I didnt got my original file back. So I was wondering if there is a way to get the file back.

unless the tuner kept your file you will probably have to pay a visit to the dealer to that original back........

Hi,

Your "Tuner" should keep the original file. I know I have to keep all my customers standard files incase they wish to go back to the standard file for warranty issues etc etc.

So the answer is YES...aslong as your tuner still has the standard file.

In any case, your dealer can upload a MINI ECU version to your MINI, but you'll lose your MTH file, and need to send your stock file again...

And your dealer might charge you for that...

Always keep your stock file on 2-3 different formats (CD, hard-drive, email,...)
