This sure has grown from our initial hopes of 6-10 die-hard MINI motorists attending the Midnight run!
You people are NUTS!

So...of our MINI owners...we can safely say that 60 of them are nuts....and the rest of us...are nuts AND sleepy?

I just wanted to remind everyone that this eventt is going to take place a couple days before the full moon. Because we will be in a remote area, the moon will be especially bright.
Please remember to bring along your moonscreen because I would hate for anybody to end their time at the Dragon with a painful moonburn

The last time I got a moonburn was in college....and WOW...those are way painful. The biggest problem is since the moon isn't as hot as the sun...you don't realize you are burning until you come back inside and see that tell-tell burn....
I'll be sure to pack hubby up with his screen.

PB

okay, waiting on pictures.... I left the digital at the hotel, and don't have the film developed yet....
someone's gotta have something ready at this point....
That was a lot of fun. And in some ways it was a lot easier than driving it during the day. Less oncoming traffic, and no trucks or buicks to get behind. Being dark, the only thing that really stood out was the car in front of you, and if you kept a decent pace back you could use the car in front as kind of a road marker and drive it much faster than had you been alone. Having said that, if the car in front of you went off the side of the mountain you'd be in for quite a surprise when you followed him off.....
I kept my car in 2nd gear for the most part and it was perfect. Driving it the next day, alone and in the sunlight, I found myself running just about the same speed when really pushing it (and with a full cargo of travel gear and the girlfriend in the passenger seat.)
