Excuse me for pointing this out. Why the fuss over lights while driving in the moonlight? You would think true moonlight runners wouldn't need the sun attached to front of their MINI's. I think it would ruin a good run to have someone behind me with a supernova lighting up the night sky. I often run back road with just the running lights on. Way cool and plenty of light. Make me wonder if the night sky is different in Tn Vs AZ?

I plan on running at the back of the pack, and if not, I will adjust my mirrors so that I am not blinded.

On the dragon, don't look back!

the ones behind the leaders could run with just their fogs? (nice and low to the ground)
also: even with the moonlight, theres plenty on tree coverage on the Dragon
even in the spring (with the trees thinned out)

[quote]FYI: Mbabischkin (from the NAM list) and Bugged (from the M2 List) are the same person

I figured I'd run towards the back of the pack. First 'cause I don't have rally lights, and second, I'll probably be taking it a bit on the slow side...

Looks like I am getting in on Pilo's group buy for the PIAA rally lights, so maybe I'll join the leaders of the pack instead of bringing up the rear!

do think you'll be able to be fast enough to run out front?
Well, I will still prefer to drive one turn behind you as usual. I try to match my speed to you, so if you make it around a bend then I know I will make it too. If I see you fly off the cliff-edge, I will know to hit my brakes a little earlier for the next turn!

Hey Yucca, any pictures of the car with the new lights? I've been curious about how the lights look with BRG.

Sorry, Pilo won't be shipping my lights until next week. But I will show them off once installed. I'm more interested in function over flashiness, but I think the PIAA's will look just fine on the BRG.

Koolmini,
I've never been there, and you have been there several times. So I'm sure you have the best ideas. I'm game for the General store!

Dave, we need two meeting places, one early and one for the drive.

People coming from Robbinsville may want to stop at the Fontana meeting place, but the Tapoco or other people closer to the Dragon won’t want to drive 30 miles (15 miles both directions) just to end up where they started from, their only 2 miles from it.

We need a list of who is going and where they are located to figure the time to meet at Deals Gap. We don’t have to stop in the gas station parking lot, just on the side of the road at the fork.

Have an early meeting time at Fontana then let the people closer to the Dragon know we will be at the Gap whatever time we plan the drive for..

koolmini,

I think that we should plan on having the Fontana group leave from the General Store and meet up with the rest at Deal's gap just before midnight.

People staying at Tapoco or Robbinsville can meet us at the Gap at 11:45 or so

The Tail of the Dragon is a famous twisty road that crosses the state line between North Carolina and Tennessee. Famous for having 318 turns in 11 miles with no crossroads the entire length. It's a public highway, and its legal to drive according to regular rules of the road

Add one more mini to the Midnight Run list...

Getting approval from the Department of Life Planning and Organization sounded something like this:

"But Honey, he has to be there. It's his namesake event; it just wouldn't do for the little guy have to wait for sunrise to go out and play! Pleeeeeease?"

Shameless, I know, but effective. What mom could say "no" to a set of baby-seal cute eyes like those belonging to a mini?

We'll see everyone there!
