Cheap MINI Cooper (TX)

Quick Details:
  • Can be yours for 8,000
  • Carmax's for 6,500 (so don't offer less)
  • Email me at immortal1490@gmail.com
  • Located in Houston Texas
Hey guys. So here is basically the story.

About year ago I had the mini parked parralel to a street near a beach. I had a couple girls with me, and as I was getting into the car, literally as I was shutting the door a Honda Civic hit my car in the door. It was a lowered "racing" hatchback civic *shakes fist*. Anyway, I was almost killed on account of literally entering the vehicle, and a couple of girls were getting in at the same time. His car essentially bounced off of the corner of the door (must have been light), and it likely destroyed half of his car (since I have his side mirror). He slowed down, but decided to speed away... and since there were people getting into my car and I thought I was injured no one got a plate (and I didn't follow him).

I didn't file it with insurance or report the accident since I figured it was futile. I would guess if you looked up the car by the VIN there would be no record of an accident, since no one reported it to anyone (not sure if I'm required too).

So basically I've got a mini cooper that is otherwise perfect with a broken door my girlfriend likes to refer to as "the nemo fin".

The damage to the car is 1,200 dollars at Vista BMW in South Florida (though I am currently in Houston Texas). At other places I got quotes closer to 800.

Carmax told me they would give me 8,000 for it with damage the first time I asked. Then I went back about six months later and they said 6,500... and that the last time I came they didn't notice the damage. That confused me... but essentially thats the deal with carmax.

Here are some poor quality pictures, specifically of the damage.

I'll continue this on the next post because of the limit.

Continued:

Anyway so basically I plan on having this up here for two weeks, or I'll just cash it in at carmax. Here are the details on the car itself:
  • Regular Mini (no S)
  • Has that rain detector
  • Cruise Control
  • Dark Red (purple?)
  • About 56,000 miles
So I'm asking basically 8,000 or best offer. Don't offer anything below 6,500... because I could get that at carmax. I'd like payment in either cash or paypal via mass pay (no fees).

In case anyone is wondering why I'm selling it, I'm getting a lotus exige.

Here is another picture. I guess I'll post more later

Looks like "Velvet Red." Gee, that was a nice color! Good luck with the sale.

Based on the emails I've gotten, I guess I did a poor job of elaborating

The car is a 2002. I am the second owner of the car. The car was bought from Vista BMW and has a clean title.

Here are some other details.
  • Sun Roof
  • Cruise Control
  • Rain Detector (the stock one)
  • Manual Transmission
The car itself is in very good shape, it runs like a charm. No complaints about the car itself honestly, I just don't need it anymore.

My name is Bill and I am new to the forum.
I am in the process of of buying my first Mini.
I did want my 1st to be a kind of "project" and if
things work then this could be it.
Does the door still work?
And the Mini drives fine, right?

Bill,

Honestly the car is perfectly find besides the door. The door shuts and opens, though the window for that door is slightly slower than the passenger window.

The mini drives absolutely fine compared to any other mini cooper. I'm just changing cars so I don't need this car anymore.

You could probably just buy it then fix the door. After that you could sell it anywhere for a profit really. I'm just managing a pretty rapidly growing programming company, so I can't afford to take the time to deal with it.
