It is a Right Hand Drive 1977 998cc titled in North Carolina with standard 12” steel wheels painted black (I was going for a rally look.) At some point it was re-shelled or brought up to mid-80s specs. It has an A+ 998, 8.4 inch disc brakes up front and a pop out/removable sunroof. It has the gauge cluster on the driver’s side of the dash with a stock tachometer. The mileage on the odometer is 32,505. I have no idea if that is original or not.
Over the two years of owning it I’ve been working on improving it. Here is the list of things I’ve done:
-Overhauled rear brakes (late summer 2005)
-Installed 3 point rear seatbelts (later summer 2005)
-New shocks up front and rear (late summer 2005)
-Replaced drive shaft seals and installed new inner CV boots (fall 2006)
-Installed new tie rods (early 2007)
-Overhauled the cooling system; new radiator, thermostat, all hoses, water pump, flushed heater core (early 2007)
-Installed SRacer Blue springs in the rear (early 2007)
-Installed new knuckle joints in the rear (early 2007)
-Overhauled front brakes (spring 2007)
-Installed new throttle cable and return spring (early 2007)
-Installed new points, condenser, rotor, cap, leads and spark plugs (spring 2007)
-“Freshened Up” (cleaned and painted) engine (early 2007)
-Installed new rear quarter window weather stripping (summer 2007)
-Installed RC40 twin box exhaust (summer 2007)
The paint looks pretty good. Pretty decent. I know there is one small run on the left rear quarter. The paint on there is not the original job. I have no idea when it was done. Not a show car but decent for a good daily driver.
The body is pretty good as well. There are a couple of small dings on it. One that comes to mind is in the rear quarter, nothing major at all. The main thing about the body is that it is in good condition but eventually need both sills, both door steps and both inner sills replaced. Then down the line it probably could use a door skin on the driver’s side. There’s a tad of corrosion up on the top near where the mirror mounts, it looks like there is a bit of bondo on it. That is the only bondo I know of on this car and I know this car body pretty well. There is a small pin hole in the bonnet.
The floors are in good shape. The front floors have a slight bulge due to somebody’s improper jacking but it is barely noticeable at all. The boot is in really good shape.
The rear subframe is in good condition.
A couple of other things it will need is a new wiper switch and new cones up front. The wiper switch on it now is broken at the bottom of the stock. Before my cute little daughter broke it the wipers worked fine. It will need a new choke cable too. The **** recently popped off. The choke still works, it just requires some pliers to put it out. The cones up front I’m sure are pretty old and need to be replaced, one sags more than the other causing the car to lean to the right a bit. The clutch master cylinder will need to be replaced soon, as the one in there is leaking slowly.
Car is located in Goldsboro, North Carolina.
Price is $5500 OBO

Stop teasing me with this thing! I'm just going to have to show my wife...
Some pictures from your link:

I wish Goldsboro wasn't so far away, I didn't have to afford putting my kids through college, and... that's a nice little buggy you've got there!

All right, I have to bump this again because heaving your pictures from the Photobucket site into this posting makes them easier for me to see... (and shows 'em off for others too). How it drive? Straight n true? Quick? Paint me a word picture...
(note to browsers - there are more pictures in his link, these are just a few)

I'm going to have to find some consulting for my company to do near Goldsboro as an excuse to make a "business" trip... know anyone with some Supply Chain / Planning-related issues I can resolve?
I'm interested, but unfortunately that's probably where it'll end... rats. Too many other things competing for family time and resources... so far...
Again, good luck with this...

Hi guys! Thanks for the posts.
It drives pretty good. Nice and straight. It has almost always started on the first try for me and the times it didn't start on the first, it did on the second, even after sitting for several weeks in my carport.
It is a nice mini but by no means is it perfect and rust free. The worst areas can be seen in the pictures; the inner and outer sills and the door steps. Those are the crustiest areas on the body.
The clutch master cylinder has developed a leak, so that will have to be addressed soon. It isn't a catastrophic leak, but a leak nonetheless.
Also, the car isn't a true 77. After I purchased it I discovered it had everything that suggested it was a mid-80 revin.
The car is located on Seymour Johnson AFB in Goldsboro, North Carolina. If anybody is interested they are welcome to come take a look at it. My cell number is 919-273-1504, if I don't answer leave a message and I'll call back as soon as I can. You can also email me at moonagedd@hotmail.com
Thanks!

Oh, by the way, the Red Bull can was just a way to dress up the coil. I have seen it on a couple of other Mini and always thought it looked cool. When you pop the hood at a show everybody asks about it! I just say, "It gives my Mini wings!"
Is it wrong for me to hope it doesn't sell until I see what my bonus is after the first of the year?
Nice toy. Wish I had the money now. Even the wife likes it. Timing isn't right quite yet though.
Bump for you.

Lol. I'd really like to sell it before then. However, it if doesn't sell before tax return season I just might keep it; it is just too much fun. Thanks for the bump!!
Good luck on the sale though.
Nice looking car... and by most standards should have sold by now. But while I appreciate your honesty, this is unfortunately one really scary paragraph to someone with experience with old (and rust prone) classic European cars:
...and makes it tough to even guess at an offering price... more detailed pictures of the areas in question may help.

Ian, thanks for the comments and perspective. I will take your advice and take some more detailed photos of the troubled areas I mentioned.
I've had about 10+ calls about the mini and about 4 people actually come and look at it. I probably could have sold it a couple of times by now but I want to make certain that anybody who is interested knows exactly what they are getting into. I was burned when I bought my very first classic mini (not this one I am selling) and I don't want to do that to anybody--no matter how badly I need it to sell.
To put it into perspective, there is a mini on Ebay with a buy it now for $5500 and it has a hole rusted in the roof closed up with TAPE! (I'm not trying to dog this mini, just compare)

yeah, I know... prices for classics are nuts right now... probably means I won't ever have one... I just can't see paying that much money for one no matter how much I want one. West PA has a clean looking '73 on their site... asking $13K... never in a million years will I spend $13K for a Mini... EVER. I don't even want to spend that much for a new (used) one.
I guess I'd rather spend $1000 or less for a Mini that I know is rusty and needs work than many times that for a question mark... but even $1000 Minis are getting hard to find... Ignoring the fact I have neither the time nor space to do such work... End result: no Mini for me.

IMO it's a fair price and sounds like a very honest seller describing the car for what it is.
Todd (who is still hoping it doesn't sell...
)
Not that this is any different than the classic car market in general... I still remember a guy on Ebay selling the half-crushed, rusty and bare (no drive train, suspension or interior) carcass of a 1970 'Cuda for over $2000... Why? Because it happened be an ultra-rare AAR model (value: well into 6 figures) and that's about what the VIN panel is worth for reconstruction out of a lesser shell.
