Weekend Motoring Plans
Weekend Motoring Plans
...if there's nothing else going on I was thinking about trying to set up a saturday lunch run for no particular reason.
If not this saturday, maybe next one or the one after; heck sundays for that matter. Just something to get us out and driving.
If there's interest I can get some details together, but so far I was thinking pretty casual; food then driving into the hills.

I think a Saturday or Sunday lunch run sounds like a good idea.
A few weeks ago I went on a drive through Boulder and ended up funding a really fun road called sugar loaf hill. Its not to long of a drive, only about a mile to a mile and a half but its really fun and I'm sure we could find some were else to drive in that area. What are your thoughts?

I'd like to see as many folks as are interested come out on weekends for a nice drive. I don't care how long a drive is, so long as we get out of Denver traffic and have fun.
I have put some thought into the route and thought about taking one that i've never actually tried before. I see the route on a map, and there are pleanty of possibilities on where to go.
We start in Morrison at C470 and Morrison Road (road 74) and head west up through Idledale and Kittredge into Evergreen. Stay on 74 west and head toward Bergen Park. Turn west onto 103, Squaw Pass Rd, and let that carry you on through Echo Lake and eventually into Idaho Springs.
From there it's easy to either go home via I70 or continue into the hills. One can take highway 6/119 into the back of Golden or the Central City Parkway up into Central City/Blackhawk. From there the option to go down 119 still exists or you can head up more and meet up with 46 and then head through Golden Gate Canyon back down to highway 93. Still farther up is Coal Creek Canyon road which will meet with 93 as well.
This are just my musings however and I have no idea if any of these roads are bad places to traverse.
Anyone else have ideas? I don't care where we go or what we do; I just want an opportunoity to go out and play.
Food is always good, and I can think of a number of tasty places to stop before (Morrison), during (Idaho Spgs) or after (Golden) the route I've outlined above.
Jacob, those are all good roads
We call Hwy103 from Bergen Park "The Western Dragon" and it is one of our MITM rides, too. We have logo, and this year - tshirts for anyone who does it.
Set it up, talk to Rick, anytime is good.

Ok, Tommy and I talked it over and we've decided to have some fun this weekend.
Saturday, May 5, at 11 am we're meeting in Lakewood at the Colorado Mills Mall. More specifically we're meeting at the Best Buy just off Colfax. We plan on heading into the hills from there, probably stopping for food when folks are good and ready.
Since we've got some members at the real dragon, why not come out and play on the "Western Dragon"? (as Jonathan called it above)
The call is open to motoring enthusiasts looking to fill an afternoon. Post questions here if you have them; either way we hope to see you there.
