Affirmative.

If you PM to Rick Gonzales (Pauhana in NAM) he will put your cell on our travel list, and if you get in trouble you can reach us too.

I am leaving Thursday afternoon, get to LV Friday Noon.

Thanks, see you at the track, I will get some pics for you...

We're practicing our waving

The Thurs (23rd) early AM group: purple/wht, red/wht, yellow/blk, pepper white and maybe two more will be waving to the Built-By-Bones truck/trailer rig when we catch up to you. We'll be on walkie talkie ch 7, sub 21. Hopefully the weather will be clear for all of us. Good luck on the track!

Slackers trying to make it last minute

Hey everybody, Erika and I have just decided that we want to go to VEGAS!! I know, I know, we should have decided this a long time ago, but we never know where we'll be from one week to another. Plus, the end of March snuck up on us REALLY quickly.

I've read ALL the posts, and we want to join the 6am crew out of Denver. Here's the bad part which might not make the trip feasible. Rooms at the hotel are almost sold out, and the block of rooms that Sin City reserved are completely gone. It's now $129 for THurs night, and 159 for the other nights. Alright, get that $#%t eating grin off of your faces because you reserved early.

We like MINIs and all of you well enough, but we're not dropping that kind of coin. We checked other hotels, and they're as much if not more. I didn't think it would be a problem, because getting a cheap last minute room in Vegas usually isn't a big deal. But there is some big convention in town, and it's Spring Break.

Does ANYBODY know of anyone that might not want their reservation? Should I contact the Sin City prez?

Thanks for your help. Hopefully we'll make it!!

MSabatos...I'm the Sin City Prez, and sorry but I can't help you with the room. That's why I was emailing out reminders to people leading up to the end of the group rate.
Of the pre-registrations, I've only had 3 people cancel, and all of them cancelled their hotel reservations too. Sorry. Your best bet for a cheap room migvht be to go Downtown. I don't know what the prices are like at the Golden Nugget, but the rooms are excellent (5 star), Fitzgeralds are ok, as are most of the places on Fremont Street.
Another option is to go a mile east or west of the Strip. If you find a hotel price that's in your range, email me and I can tell you if the hotel should be avoided.

OK Slackers...

Per my VM, you can still crash with me on Friday night (I snore) but since Darcy and Berk are coming on Saturday, this is a One Night Stand only.

Might save you enu that you could end up at the Bellagio on Saturday. At least there they change the sheets more than weekly.

JPS

PS: This will only cost you one (1) free test drive.....vehicle of my choice.

Look, an inside scoop from my friends, who are Vegas locals... Sign up with a casino to become a member, then go in and get the casino member rate. I'm staying at the Stratosphere for only a couple more bones a night than the Palace Station... and plusher

Can't promise you much at this late date, but everything is worth a shot. We stayed the last night at the Luxor, last year for only 80, short notice it was too

I will be leaving Thurs afternoon, but I probably won't hook up with the group. It might work out just right though. Who knows. I plan on driving all the way through too. I'm in an EB/white Cooper S. I'll keep an eye out for you all. Getting excited! See you in Vegas!

I'm updating the AMVIV homepage the weather forecast from Weather.com every morning.
On Friday afternoon, they were saying 60% chance of rain for Friday and Saturday. On Saturday morning they changed to 20%. Those guys have no clue.

Just wanted to let you know i am the first to arrive in Vegas for this event. The weather in Lake Tahoe was changing so decided to leave a few days early and get here. My Mini is lonely without all the others filling the 6th floor of the garage. A little overcast today (monday). See you later in the week. Glenn from SierraNevadeMinis.

Glenn, we're meeting at Desert MINI tomorrow (Tuesday) night at 6pm to finalize what people will be doing and such. You're welcome to attend if you want.
Corner of Sahara & Decatur (a couple of miles west of Palace Station on Sahara).

winter driving conditions/Rocky Mtns

For the Denver group leaving at 6:30 am: What kind of tires you all have? We'll get packed snow/ice through Vail pass and Eisenhower Thurs am.

Since I normally drive the 4-wheeler in this stuff, I still have the runflats on Shazam. But, two new ones on the front for what traction I can pull out of them should do me fine, slippery a bit... Could be tricky and we'll take it slow

If you have bald tires, I suggest getting something on this week

Sounds like the conditions I came through last week. Traction with stock All Season RF's was not a problem.
Stone chip damage OTOH was severe- especially in UT.
Might you consider going south route?

Who will be at Desert MINI Thursday AM for an appointment to have my top adjusted.

Good to know! Yes, that's where I got alot of my chips last year. So, good to have tread for ice driving, but not good to be behind drivers with new tires thru UT aka, the loose gravel state

Southerly route is just out of the way. Besides, my 87 yr old grandfather is SO excited to see all of the mini's come to brunch :impatient

Meeting Location, Thurs AM Group

Just for clarification, is the meeting location one of the dinosaur parking lots? Also are we still meeting at 6:30am?

Thanks,

Andy

The Late Show update

OK, here is the best I have right now:

Derek_Lukasik is leaving early afternoon going straight thru. Crazy dude.
Lynn (PurpleFreak) is now leaving early afternoon going to Green River, Ut about 100 mi past GJ.
Kendall and Dianne are still on for late afternoon
I am on for late afternoon

Both Kendall and I may get out early. If so, we will take off. If we do, I suggest we try for Green River too, to save 1.5 hours on Friday.

Anyone else out there planning to meet late afteroon? PM me or call at 303-807-9483.

Thanks,

Jonathan

Thursday 6:30 AM Group - West of Denver

Meeting at Conoco station on Mt Vernon Canyon Road, just west of the intersection of I-70 and Hwy 40, which is the road that goes to Golden to north or to Morrison/Red Rocks to the south. To get to that intersection when heading west on I-70, take the first exit AFTER the C-470 exit. This is just as you're getting into the foothills. At this exit, go through the light (west) and veer slightly right so that you are now on Mt Vernon Canyon Rd (more of a frontage road), which is parallel to the on-ramp to I-70. Follow the Mt Vernon for about 1/2 mile until you get to the Conoco station, on the right. If you get to the next intersection with I-70, you went too far.

We expect to leave by about 6:30, but we will wait for all unless they call or contact me by PM tonight. Here's who we're expecting:
AAAMINI
Shazam's White lighning
PauHana
MINNIAC

Has the smoke cleared yet?

Hoping Agro is still monitoring this thread....NICE JOB!!!
All aspects of the event were first rate and very very well prepared!

Sorry I never met up with anybody...Friday I got a call from my house sitter advising me she had to leave early Sunday morning, so I had to fit in a visit with my sister in Summerlin on Friday - find somebody to take my spot at Phil Wicks - and leave LV Saturday afternoon.

I did the Angel Fire route before I left on Saturday, though, and it was spectacular. Highly recommended for anybody who gets out that way.

So - well - maybe next year.

Peter

I monitor EVERYTHING!
Just kidding. Thanks, we put in a lot of work and are glad that everyone seemed to enjoy themselves.
Bummer about having to skip the driving school. I'd fire the house-sitter.

What is this Angel Fire route? Is it something we could do as an AMVIV run next year?
