Oh yea. AMVIV...

We are leaving Thursday about 4 pm from Metro Denver.

Will that work for you? Overnight in Fruita...

On the other hand, Kevin suggested a more 'innaresting' route down thru the 4 corners...across the top of NM.....any takers?

I don't want to hold up the line... there's no such thing as a fast parade!

Jonathan, I also wanted to talk to you and Rick about a WMS event ehre in February. I want to hold a pulley party at my own shop, and Aesthetic Creations from Arizona also wants to come up to do custom graphics for the members. I would be doing installs at a discounted price - something I've not done for anyone else! $350 for pulleys installed at the event.

I was thining February 18 and 19 (I think that's a weekend).

Call or have Rick call so we can discuss possibilities.

Thanks!
Randy

PS - I am going out with the wife and kids; weekends home are a rarity for me... have fun at the meeting!

Sorry Jonathan, Didn't make it to the meeting but did watch Italian job on TV
We had family visiting. I think after talking to my husband we are going to leave early Thursday (3/23) morning. Were going to take the kids out of school on Thursday, they are off on Friday. We are also meeting family in Vegas. My sister has a Mini too, but did not want to drive from Ohio so she is flying in.
So if anyone wants to caravan on Thursday morning that is an option.
I would be interested in having Asthetic Creations put some graphics on my car in February, there are some on it now but they need to be replaced.

I am sure there are others, including MonroeDee who are leaving at that time. Please post here your plans, I will encourage them to do the same, and we will get you a group.

Colorado may have 3 Caravans to AMVIV

and possibly 4. The options:

Wednesday night - gets you there Thursday afternoon
Thursday morning - gets you there Thursday night
Thursday after work - overnight in Fruita, get there 1 pm Friday
Friday am - get there Friday night, miss a day's worth of fun

Please POST your intentions and we will all queue up as the event nears...

OOPS, forgot that's a Thursday...which means school is out earlier. So, I can leave Lafayette as early as 2:30...I'm assuming the meet up place will be in Denver? Or further up I-70? I'm flexible!

Generally, we meet up on the West side at the

I-70 and Morrison exit, NW corner. There is a small lot there (there are lots on 3 of the corners) but on the NW corner there is a gas station / quick stop in the event anyone needs provisions.

Let's plan that, say 4 pm, until further notice. Note we have pp coming in from KC and StL that day so we may need a bit of flexibility for them...

It turns out I'll be in Northern Arizona that week - so a run up to LV is no problem. I'll be coming up Friday AM - booked a room for Friday night - having never been to AMVIV - is there a hook-up point for people - I guess meaning how do 5280 people find each other once they arrive - at different times.
Also looking for input regarding the track programs.

For those leaving Denver Thursday afternoon, where in Fruita did you make hotel reservations?

Thanks!

Just stumbled across this, apparently just in time too! I just talked the wife into making this trip. So, count another Colorado Mini in. Probably be leaving sometime Thursday afternoon. Driving straight through. Really looking forward to the Phil Wick's thing on Saturday. See you guys there...

Not sure how many Mini's want to caravan with a F350 and trailer?

I am in the midst of prepping the 03 MCS for the Phil Wicks event on Sat 25th. I plan on leaving the shop in Ft Collins very early Thursday morning, typically around 3am. That gets me through Denver before traffic and depending on weather into Las Vegas about 12 hours later.

starting to get excited, this should be fun

Oooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Answers:

1. Comfort Inn in Fruita
2. Still leaving 4 pm, from West Denver (likely Stegosaurus lot, I-70 at Morrison Rd)
3. Yes we can all go together.....remembering that the MINI drivers tend to want to..make tracks....and get spread out anyway....

However...we can make a game out of it...cat and mouse, with beer to the winner.

Thanks,

Jonathan

AMVIV III and a roomie

I'm trying to get things together so I can go to AMVIV III. it would be a lot of help if someone out there would be interested in a roomie. If any of you are let me know and we can discuss it .

Routes from Denver to Vegas

I checked some routes from west side of Denver to Vegas (Palace Station) on DeLorme Street Atlas software. According to my calculations:
 1. (From I-70/C-470) I-70 west to I-15 then south to LV is about 810 miles (750 on Google Maps).
 2. (From Hwy 285/C-470) Hwy 285 south to Alamosa, Durango, Cortez, through four corners area, Flagstaff (Ariz) -- I-40 west to Kingman, then Hwy 93 to LV is about 920 miles. Might be more fun, but I'd be concerned about road conditions and lack of services through NW Ariz. Does anybody have any experience with this route in March?
We'll be taking route #1.

Berk and I did that route

3 yrs ago, Spring Break time, on the way back from our Cactus League games. Phoenix, Flagstaff, Grand Canyon, Cortez, then Denver. Never saw a flake, NE AZ is gorgeous and desolate. Gas up. But you can make tracks out there, too. I would not hesitate to do it again.

I wish that I could get out Thursday AM with you all but I have a 4 day class that week and cannot.

Perhaps I will come back that way. Darcy and Berk are coming for the weekend, staying thru Wednesday, then they fly home, I drive.

Hookup point in Vegas?

Peter,
Good question. Last year the 5280'ers exchanged cell #s before leaving. We did that with Private Messages (not posted to forums, of course). I'd recommed doing that during the week of the trip. Also, please go to the MINI5280 Events Calendar (NAM Main Menu on left, then on lower right Calendar Jump: MINI5280 Event Calendar) and click the "I will be attending this event" link in the proper date. Don't forget your walkie talkies.

Thursday night, come to the In-N-Out just across the road from Palace Station to meet up and hang out.
Friday night, at 5:30 there is a "meet the MINIacs mixer" in a hospitality suite on the 3rd floor of Palace Station, then at 7:30 we're leaving the roof of the parking garage for the annual Strip Cruise.

See you here.

Whoo-hoo!

We have 3 now. Jayme/Minniac will be along too. Hope to leave Jayme's about 6am. We can meet you two off C-470 since you're coming from there. Otherwise, we can meet at the IHOP in Grand Junction about 10am-ish.

I'll Pm you with my #, and we'll have 2-way radios also
