MINI5280 Activities

We have had a few suggestions for rides activities. I wanted to through this out there and see what people think. If there is enough interest we will set it up and give it a try.

1. Unser Kart racing. Chance to race on a go cart since we are not supposed with our minis on the road. Might be good practice. web site: http://unserracing.com/. I was thinking some Sat/Sun afternoon in April. If we get enough interest I will set it up.

2. Trip to Cheyenne WY. Of course we would take the back (twisty) way. We can possibly get a drive onto FE Warren AFB and park along the parade field and the historical buildings. It is a nice ride and a nice town to tour around. We can make it a long day or some can stay overnight and ride back along the east side. I was thinking mid/late Jun or mid Jul (not July 4th weekend). Let me know what you think and we can work it up for a ride.

Thanks
Ray

Ray, I think you could count us in on both of these ideas.

I would say yes to both, I like late June or after the 4th for Wyoming. Any good old historic places to overnight in the area, good bar, good food?

Totally in for the Unser Racing; I love karting there.

Cheyenne MINI driver

Believe it or not, a few of us drive MINIs in Cheyenne. I know one garage with two (mine, see the pic).

Cheyenne is a pretty place with some good food (The Albany, Poor Richard's, Terry Bison Ranch). Late July is bad due to Frontier Days.

Some nice roads, Happy Jack west of town to the Snowy Mountains.

I think you might have a good ride up here.

The Cheyenne Run is tentatively scheduled for September 14-15. There are three of us working on the details. More to come.

Karting

About the karting portion of a future ride, there is another option: Speed Raceway. This is an indoor facility located east of I-25 & E-470. The karts are electric and fast. The prices are lower (12 laps for $20) than Unser. We had a 5280 day there a couple of years ago after the grand opening and Gilbert was the race winner. It's worth looking into: http://www.speedraceway.com/denver/

I vote for Speed Raceway, as I missed out on that day last time, and want to see how speedy I can be!
