MT Evans opening day drive to the top.

Please note there is a $10 fee per car to drive to the top of MT Evans.

Can a few of the folks from past runs up for opening day provide some information on what we have done in the past. Meet up spot, time to meet etc.

We will have to be in Georgetown by 11AM for that festivity, see the other thread.

Don, the last couple of years we have met at the McDonald's just off I-70 at Evergreen Parkway between 6:45 and 7 AM. Departing at 7 AM for a run up Squaw Pass Road would get us to the ranger station at Mt. Evans in time to be first in line for the 8 AM open. With photo stops, we were back down the mountain by 9:30 at the latest.

This sounds pretty awesome! Too bad my MINI is still having surgery done. That, and I'll be on two wheels on the way to Philadelphia that weekend.

My schedule sucks so badly for these runs. Grrr.

Details re: Meet Me on Mt Evans (MINI5280's 8th annual) start time, location need to be posted to both the calendar and the threads, including Guanella Pass/Georgetown. In the past, we've met at the McDonald's at I-70 & Evergreen Parkway at 6:45 AM. Wheels rolling at 7:00 AM (promptly). Technically, Mt Evans road opens at 7:00 AM, so we want to get there shortly after that time. Makes it easier for us to stop along the way up and get photos without blocking traffic.

Anyone from Colo Spgs interested to caravan, we can meet at McDonald's on N Academy and I-25, and leave at 5:30 sharp.

 

Late note: Remember there is a $10 fee at the park entrance for a car with up to 12 people, not an issue with our MINIs.

CDOT site is giving some odd info on opening, 9news carried a story too.

Watch for a different MT. EVANs potential meetup time. Will know more later.

I say we still meet up as planned, do Sqaw Pass then down to Idaho Springs for breakfast, then GT & Mt Evans on the way back. Just my 2 cents.
