NEED WORK!

Any one in the denver area know of a job thats open? i've been furloughed from the rail road since november and been working for albertsons since december. My boss is the biggest a-h0le there ever has been. he wrote me up for being 10min late last night. and on top of that its selective enforcement on their part. Just looking to see if any other 5280 members can help me out.

If your supposed to be at your job at a prescribed time, than be there. Don't whine about your boss writing you up when your late.

THIS WAS A FIRST OFFENSE! I've been nothing but on time if not early and a good employee though out my employment with Albertsons. Not to mention that all of my work gets done in a timely manner. (Dont worry, your Cheerios will be on the shelf) Before this i was dealing with much more serious things then a grocery store, and by serious i mean the safe movement of a 21,000 ton coal train coming down a mountain with 8% grade, if i didn't do my job correctly people could lose their lives. If i wasn't on time passengers of the famous Colorado Ski Train would be delayed in getting to Winterpark. If i didn't get to work on time and get coal to Excel your electricity could go out. You can ask any one who knows me personally, I'm probably one of the hardest working 22yr olds you'll ever meet. So please correct me if i'm wrong but I was asking for help not a lecture.

Sorry, that's just cold. No one is perfect and everyone makes a mistake now and again. The OP also said that the application of discipline was selective, not consistent. And give credit where credit is due, at least the OP is making a serious attempt to work instead of trying to live off hand outs.

Yes, I agree.

Tommy when is the furlough going to lift? Hope you can hang in there with Albertsons.

Is he/she cranky because of the union carp that is going on around here or is that all settled.

Good Luck,
Don

Not sure when ill go back to work, Im sure buy July due to the presidential rail way safety act of 2009. Hours of service change (i cant work more then 372 hours a month or six day straight) they will need guys to fill these vacancies.

No he's going through a rough time at home. He has a 10 month old baby and his wife asked for a divorce. I understand that puts a guy in a bad spot, but the way i see it is #1 its never ok to treat your employees like crap because of your home life and #2 i wouldn't want my home life and my work life to suck, you know what i mean? i actually dont work at a union store except the meat cutters, and the service deli folks. it wont effect us. only a hand full of albertsons are union.

sorry to hear that

Tommy...

where part of the town are you living? You may check out your local workforce center to ask them for assistance. They provide all the services for free to help you find a job.

Good luck!!

Adams County

If I am correct, which doesn't happen often (just ask Jennifer), you are in Adams County. Adams County Workforce is a few block North of 120th and Pecos. Or you can always drive down the DTC, to see the best workforce center in Metro Region: Arapahoe/Douglas Works!
I just talked to my youth supervisor and believe it or not, you still qualify for our summer youth program (14 to 24 years). Your Stimulus money at work!!! In fact, we do have some openings that are up north. These jobs requires experiences with tools. Sounds like it's something you may wanna try? Call our Workforce center main number 303-636-1160 and ask for Jennifer from Youth resource center. She will give you more details.. don't forget to tell her that you are refered by the owner of the best looking MINI Cooper...in our building (since I am the only one)

I think that we should all step back and stop flinging mud folks. That doesn't help anyone.

I'd love to help you Tommy, but I'm officially unemployed since December, so I'm not one to provide you answers. I will say this though. making $10 per hour is better than making $0 per hour. Just remember that there are thousands of people looking for anything they can, so the pickins are slim just now. Hang in there pal.

+1

I've been unemployed since October and looking for a new job since day 1. It didn't help that I got the ax during the holiday season either but still very little job opportunities out there.

If your working a nighttime job be happy it allows you to handle phone calls for interviews throughout the day.
