Spring Fling

Its been a long, cold, dark and dirty winter. But hope and optimism are on the rise as are the temps and the hours of day light.
So March 21st, the first day of spring, is on a Saturday and in true pagan fashion we must celebrate. Let's have a ride!
Keep in mind that March is one of the most unpredictable weather months when it comes to snow fall, but we intrepid MINI owners have never let a little moisture get in the way of a good time (well sometimes but for good reason).
So put on your thinking caps (its in the closet next to the sun screen and bowling ball) and come up with a ride to properly bring in the new season.
Don't make me hold another contest (PowerPoints and dancing bears) just spew forth a route or activity that feels good to you and others may want to join in on.

Good day for a drive, I hope.

I will be working/attending the RMVR weekend Fire/Rescue School for workers and drivers.

Ah, the conflicts. If anyone wants to put out fires and practice triage and pull folks out of cars, drop me a PM.

Don

Hallett Raceway (W. of Tulsa) '09 season opens March 21st. The OK-Mini group has invited me to join them. (That is not one of my every other weekends home in Colo. Springs, so I will at least go spectate.)

Mike

PS: Oh Man, is the mini ever faster at 700 ft above sea level...!!! Wheel spin is a real problem in 1st gear. Panther is awesome powerful at this elevation. More air down here, but sucks more gas too!

How about this route? http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&sour...,0.439453&z=11
Morrison to Idaho Springs for lunch then maybe up to Blackawk or C.C.?
Or we could start at a "Spring-ish" location and end at one? Denver Mattress Co? A Spring St. Dr. Pl. Pkwy. Cir. etc..

I'm suggesting the ride MOTOR ON proposed back in November. I did the ride and enjoyed it. It's almost the same as Miniconcarne's.

Hope I did the link right.

Have we settled on a Deer Creek, Squaw Pass, Idaho Springs run?
Discuss this at the meeting tomorrow.

Alright sign-up on the calendar: Spring for our de-hibernation event. The ride will leave from the corner of Deer Creek Rd & Wadsworth at 10:00 AM, go up the canyon and over to Evergreen, Squaw Pass and into Idaho Springs for lunch at Tommyknockers. Then Black Hawk and Coal Creek Canyon. Should be done by 2:30 PM.
Here is the route: Fling
Also check out the Facebook event: De-Hibernate

Sounds like a great drive - I've never been up that way. We'll be there! (in a MINI this time!)

Down as a maybe on Facebook! I really need to get the MINI out for some spirited driving! Its been locked away in the garage for a few weeks now like an untamed beast ready to go!! Hopefully life don't get in the way of this ride like it usually does.

I must have just missed you guys! Was at the meeting place at about 10 after 10. Did a bit of the course myself but gave up after Evergreen to meet with a friend and have lunch. It was a great day to be out in the MINI though! Sorry I missed everyone. : (

Sorry about that. We left at 10:00 AM.
It was a great day to motor - with or without MINI pals.
Next ride is the Sandy Crack Rallye on April 18th.
