SPF ZERO, just an idea.... IF your car isn't here by then, I'm sure one of our nice members would be more than happy to have a co pilot! Not quite as fun as driving your own car but great fun because WE'RE all fun!!!!

Perhaps we could have everyone bring their radios for a "How to use it correctly" lesson. Then I could address the masses of the Castle Ride on July 12th via Channel 7, sub channel 21.......

"Breaker, breaker, 7-21. This here is the intercoolest driving tha all black '05 R53 Mini Cooper S called -Panther-......, bring er back, Good Buddies..."

Ok, signed up for this one. Now to see if I can make the 7:15AM start point.

Not real good for early morning starts, I think 10 is about right.

Hey, so what is the "get lost" factor of this ride? Who'd leading?

scribbledpaper:

I will be leading the Castle trip & will request a volunteer to be the Sweeper. (The last car/driver.) It can be fun being in the back, as you can drop back & speed up to catch everyone again.

If the group is great in number, we could break into 2 or more groups. The more aggressive in the front, tourists in the rear. The groups can stay together when possible & make due when not possible.

A great rule we had in an ATV motorcycle club was: Never assume that the person behind you knows which way you went. Traffic will happen, the group will get split-up at times.

When a turn, multiple choice turn or Y in the road was encountered, the riders each waited to go on until the next rider saw them (the white of their eyes - type of saw them). Each rider knew who was in front & behind them. Perhapss a signal flash of the head lights would be good.

If you pass another Mini, do it where others can see that the positions of Mini's/drivers have changed. Watch for who's now ahead &/or behind. If the leaders feel a direction change can be confusing, we can pull over & group up again.

This ride will not have the most challenging twisties, but there will be some. What feed-back I have received is people want to experience the 3 Castles plus enjoy the ride to & from.

When there could be a dozen or 2.5 like last weekend, some simple to follow rules will be put in place.

My thoughts,

Mike (aka: intercoolest)

I'm going to try and make this trip because it may just be my last 5280 trip of the summer.

Yah, I have to admit that keeping 30 cars together is all but impossible. Good luck on your dozen to 2.5, we'll have to see how many we can get together.

Burg Mary Castle owners are having an "Open Castle" reception for Mini5280 & will need an approximate head count to plan refreshments from.

Last year we had 15 Mini's & 1 Subaru WRX show for the Bishop Castle ride, the recent Tweet me to some Twisties ride had 20, Western Slope ride was 12 + 1 Toyota Camery last weekend.

That would calculate to a possible 24 - 40 people, averaging 2 people per. (Matilda will likely be loaded to the brim w/ 4 in it... ) I need a count closer than that to give them.....

Thanks,
Mike
Remember I need a count to give to our Open Castle hosts.

Sign up when/if you know you're going.

Ok, I am thinking we might be able to go. July 11 - 12 is the Loveland Loves BBQ and since the newspaper sponsors it we might have to work some of it...so if anyone wants BBQ on Friday, come on up and say hi!

Count my wife and I as a possible. I'll know more by this weekend I hope. If worse comes to worse, we might end up meeting you guys once you hit the Springs and following along then.

Mike,
I'm able to make an abriged run. Depending on how it goes time wise, I will have to turn back at Bishop's. Looking forward to Glen Erie!

My first event! Wellington came home on Thursday, and his window tint is finishing curing this weekend. I was thinking about going on the drive, and my wife told me I should go... but I think its just because we're still in the "break-in" period!
