Not touching the hose today.

Ryan,
Your radio should work fine as long as you set them to Ch 7 sub 21.
And just in the case, someone always have an extra radio during these events.
I am thinking about washing my car this afternoon after work... but decided against it... so if it rains tomorrow, it's not my fault...

Thanks Michael!! I will bring my set then and I will have an extra as well!!

I'm leaving work today a bit early to wash my car and then shove it right in the garage!! When I went to the Detailer's Paradise interior demo it was filthy, can't let everyone think I don't care for the MINI. So if it rains it will be my fault!!

Radio Differences

Maybe not! According to this chart you may have to try +/- 1 "sub-channel" depending on your radio manufacturer. I have a Radio Shack talkie and it works on sub-21 which on the chart is CTCSS tone 131.8 Hz -- but for the Cobra 250/300 it would be sub 20. <sigh>

I can't even swear that my Radio Shack unit matches the one in the chart! Radio checks at the start are always a good idea.

Probably jinxed it.

All week I have not had the MINI at the house while Patty has been taking it to work.

She came home early, so I went ahead and washed and hyrdro'd Scooter.

So, if it is raining as we drive down 36 in the AM, you can spray me with your wipers.

So I'm sure I just skimmed over it but will this drive hit the Royal Gorge bridge?

It takes roughly 40 minutes to get to Lone Tree, so I am proposing that we leave that spot no later than 6:40 AM. I want to make sure we meet up with the rest of the pack in Lone Tree. I'm suggesting we don't get out of the cars and attrack local law enforcement attention. I'm going to be there at 6:35, then leave at 6:40. See you there or down at Lone Tree! old81 - get up earlier!
Don't know how I sign up for this but I will see you guys at the RTD stop.

Still don't see any link? Is it on the page with all the enrolled names on it? Maybe the link is gone now that it's only a few hours away?

Not your fault

The programming causes the link to be removed at T-12. Anyway, signing up is never a pre-req. Come one, come all, come as you are, bring the hound.

Great run, lots of new faces and old friends. Great late lunch/dinner!

I was one of the last to leave the diner, which way did you all go home? I think I saw Mike from Ned. behind me for a little while.

I had a great time! I wish that Shelly could have come too though! I missed her!

We did end up with one fatality. A bird (some kind of black bird) was going the wrong way and not watching where he was going. He smacked right into my windshield while I was going down C-470. Poor guy -- He hit very hard! I stopped on my way home and washed the bean. He's fat and happy and resting in the garage now.

Here are some of my pictures: http://www.flickr.com/photos/scribbl...088564/detail/

If your not familiar with flickr all you have to do is click on any picture to view, then if you'd like to download click on the "All Sizes" link located directly above the picture. The default size is large, but there is also an option to download the original.

As the noobie I have to say "That was a freakin BLAST!!" Tryin to keep up with John and Chuck and a few others after the Royal Gorge stop on the way to Cripple Creek had to be my highlight!! It was a great way to break-in the MINI!!

My girlfriend (Kerri) and I want to thank all that had any part in organizing this!! We will definitely participate in the future rides!! It was great to finally meet the people on this site in person. Thanks for welcoming us to the group, it is an amazing one to be a part of!!

Bryan & Susan
Great having lunch with you both as well! Hope to see you guys on more rides in the future.

We have a ton of pictures and will try to get them up sometime tomorrow. We're beat!!

Late, but I uploaded my pictures to my picasa area. Album is here.

Fun drive and some really nice MINIs, nice to see the PW Clubman and the new MINIs. We all drove well and avoided the traps. I need some really sticky summer tires based on todays run.

Canon City gas stop. What a group and photo opportunity.

Rick's Photos

I had a great time on this ride. Thanks to Chuck for organizing and posting and Jonathan for leading. My total trip distance was about 280 miles. I've posted trip photos on my SmugMug album here. You can make comments right on the album. I still have a bit more to do with the album (captions, etc). If you'd like to have any of these photos, let me know and I'll give you the higher res image free (don't buy them from SmugMug).

Rick,

I love your picture of the police car and cop! I'd love to have the original sized picture of Bean driving down the road. I'd like to get it printed for my office! Please and thank you! My email address is scribbledpaper@aol.com

Excellent ride - we had a great time in country that has before been missed. I really was impressed with the turn out and the new members, let's keep the momentum going into the rest of the year.
Thanks to Jonathan for a great route and near perfect steerage. Skyline drive is too cool and we must go back to Royal Gorge for the bridge drive.
Thanks too goes out to the cop who was on lunch break instead of radar.
After being around the Clubmans I'm really liking them.
I'll see if my daughter got any shots for posting and let y'all know.

Don,

Yes, thumbs up right above the side view mirror.

I'd be glad to trade notes about digital photo stuff. Part of the day, I used the (highest JPG resolution settings). Program function with direct sunlight white balance, ISO 200, and other semi-auto exposure (I can't remember). Some of the shots are with full auto (I'm too lazy sometimes). The main thing I do for the SmugMug postings is with Photoshop Elements 6. I do the Process Multiple Files function with auto levels, sharpen, 96 DPI and saved as JPG Hi Res. That's it. I'm a bit lazy (and trying to drive too) with careful settings. Yesterday I took over 400 shots, many of which were sent straight to the digital trash. I wish I had brought the tripod to make a panoramic on Skyline Dr. The tripod slows me down and makes me think a bit harder about exposure, focus, etc. I've never done anything serious with the Raw format, but I'd like to sometime.

One more thing. I've enabled the SmugMug viewing setting which shows "Photo Info" (on the right of each photo, several options appear when the cursor hovers over the photo).
Rick

Soitenly. I'll send right now. On the shots with the tinted glass, it hid those behind it even though they could clearly see me. Open windows work best, though. I like the way my reflection (my MINI) is visible on Bean's door and side panels. The clouds look nice too, IMHO.

I got to say that everyone's photos are great. Here are the ones my daughter took: Flickr. She does a better job taking pictures then I do.
