Now this has potential.

Ah, this is a good one. Do we have to sign up on the NM site or will we have a signup on 5280? Jon?

It will depend on other conflicts, but this would be a nice late fall run with cool weather.

I will pencil it into my calendar for now, I may have to run solo again.

Here is what will happen:

Rick Gonzales will put the event in the MINI5280 Calendar here in NAM. Signup there, all the details will be there.

There may be separate groups headed down there. In fact, in years past, we met up with NMM at location is NM and CO, and then headed out. Chances are that will happen again.

Watch the calendar. I am sure Rick will get it posted soon.

will there be an obgyn attending the drive? I would love to do it but Libi is due on Oct 31st, would that be smart? probably, a little spirited driving in the MINI cooper will make for the best delivery room possible for th future F1 driving champ. See you all at MITM.

I am thinking that

We can leave Metro Denver on Friday afternoon after work, and make our way towards Taos, as we have done before.

That way, we can be in Taos on Saturday AM for the 8 am meetup with NMMINIs at the headwaters of the Rio Grande.

All in? Post here and in the MINI5280 calendar, right here in NAM.

Thanks,

Jonathan

Modified Trip Route - R4tC 2007

Hi all!

As time has passed, the route has evolved somewhat from the map posted above. Please note that we are no longer meeting at the Taos Gorge bridge. The new meeting location for any cars coming from the east (so far not looking very likely) is Tres Piedras, NM, by 10:00 a.m. Saturday. Colorado cars are meeting at Pagosa Springs for lunch (12 noon or shortly after - Chato's Mexican -- we have reservations). Not sure about any AZ or UT cars, but we'd love to see some of you! Meet at our hotel (Best Western.
535 E Main Street Cortez, Colorado :: Phone: 970-565-3778) in Cortez for the night, then up for the run to Four Corners Monument Sunday morning ($3 admission, per person). From there it's up to Telluride and around the mountain, back to Durango.

Shirts are pre-order, so get to our website ( http://nmmini.org ) to order yours today! Deadline is Monday, Oct 8. We'll have some extras, but may not be your color or size. The design is an update from our last R4tC.

Hotel rate of $69+ is good until 10/10. Ask for NM MINI Club rate.

Note we are now using channel 15.21 on our radios.
PM me to swap phone numbers.

New maps with directions for Saturday and Sunday are found here:
http://yelrsub.com/nmmini_shared/r4tc_sat.pdf and
http://yelrsub.com/nmmini_shared/r4tc_sun.pdf

On the Saturday map, Mapquest sent us on a dirt road adventure out of Arboles, CO. We will stick to paved roads, however, making it a slightly longer drive to Navajo Dam.

Questions or suggestions: PM yelrsub (Steve) or email Perry at president@nmmini.info

Cheers,
Steve/yelrsub

R4TC 2009??

Steve, is it too early to plan for this year?

We have the Colorado Conclave mid-September, then Yalla Yalla mid-October. But right in between would be perfect.

Any thoughts? Is it our turn to host?

Mind readers! I recently polled the NMMINI Board for good dates for this year, as it is the year to Run again. Late September is definitely looking best.

Original thoughts on R4tC were to stay overnight in a different state each year, but it's worked out that we stayed in Cortez, CO the last two times. I did some checking and there are options in both Arizona and Utah, as well as Nuevo Mexico:

AZ:
Chinle, near Canyon de Chelly National Monument
Best Western, Holiday Inn and Thunderbird Lodge

UT:
Bluff, at the end of a twisty-looking road, Hwy 163
Several Hotels and Lodges

NM:
Aztec, near Aztec ruins

http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UT...2,3.526611&z=8

Let us know what you want to do. I'll try to post this on AZ and UT sites as well.

Cheers,
Steve e

Thanks for resurrecting this event. To avoid confusion with the old dates and plans stated years ago, you should start a new NAM thread for this 2009 event. Then reference the new thread from this thread.

I like any of these options

but I also want to suggest, for your consideration, a day trip to the Gateway Auto Museum, in Gateway, CO. This is about 45 mi SW of Grand Junction and YES, you have to drive to get there. But the nice thing is that the drive from SW CO is up CO 141 from Cortez (thru Naturita) to Gateway. In my humble opinion, one of the best and most scenic curvy roads in all of Colorado. Check it out at

www.GatewayCanyons.com and at

www.GatewayAutoMuseum.com

There is ample parking there, a resort (probably more expensive than we want) and if memory serves me, picnic area. In any case, it is a self-contained resort and worth the drive. Read the history of this fellow Hendricks and where the money came from to do this. We could of course call ahead and get a group deal and the pics would be good. Pictures allowed inside of course.

Just my thoughts. This may well be a destination ride for MITM4 this year too.

What updates on this run? Are the dates set for late Sept. as noted in the NM thread club area?

Possibly a 2009 thread would be better to track interest in the 5280 club area.

Actually, is this a NM run or a combined run or a 5280 run?

I'm confused.

see here.

Thanks - Don

Give me a week to unwind from MITM4

www.MINIsintheMountains.com

and Steve and I will post updates. A few things we can say now, however:
  • The dates have not changed
  • We are calling it 'Run for the Borders' and our mascot is a Chihuahua
  • This was originally started by NMMINIs but we do it with them EOY
  • There is change-a-happenin in NM so there are more parties to work with
All will be firmed by August 15. We will give you about 6 weeks to plan.

Also watch https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...rs-anyone.html

Thanks JPS

If this falls on the dates stated, I might be able to enjoy this one.

Then again, might have to do a lapping day at HPR, so we shall see.

Keep the info. flowing after you rest up.

I am moving to Fort Carson at the end of September, and will probably be able to do something towards the end of October, is anything scheduled for the end of October/November yet?

Yes, Lots

Please go directly to the MINI5280.org club President at President@MINI5280.org (that's clever) and request the current newsletter as well.

You can find all club membership info at MINI5280.org and in the NAM and MA forums, we are very active. Please use the NAM calendar for all events as they are always put there.

Thanks,

Jonathan

OK, the 2009 R4TB Details are final.

and they are posted in the NEW 2009 R4TB thread in MINI5280, Rocky Mountain, New Mexico MINIs, DMC and Utah MINIs sites.

The respective dealers will be notified. As always....everyone is welcome, not everyone is invited.
