They dont break anymore? I assumed they would only become more and more desired since they keep dying off slowly and there are fewer working amps in the wild. If your speakers pop with a deep "thud", then your amp is on its last leg. The alternative is replacing your entire system, so you're getting off cheap with a replacement amp.

Maybe the weak ones have all died, and all thats left are the survivors.
