Of course that was an option. Have one in the garage.

 

Well I know it wasn't in 2006....

 

It was an option on the US 2004-2006 R53 (Build Code RE33) and the US 2004-2008 R52 (Build Code RH33). See here:

Not trying to argue, I swear. Just want to be sure that people don't get confused.

 

Alpha: Apologize for the slight diversion to your sale ad as these are awesome and I wish that I had the funds at the moment.

I decided to do a bit of research and for the 1st gen cars it appears that there is not a difference between the power fold mirror caps and non-powerfold, thus these CF caps should work either way.

If you are like me and were not able to chose powerfold mirrors upon ordering, apparently the parts may available (as noted in the realoem link above) and here is link from NAM on retrofitting the mirrors (using UK parts from newministuff.com) https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...tallation.html

 

Ah, that makes sense! Looks like powerfolds were dealer-installed upgrades on the R53s. Good catch!

Apparently the 2007 and 2008 R52s just had many more order-able options not on the R53 order sheets.
