Brushy Mountain Apple Festival, Saturday, October 3, 2009
Hey Everyone!
I was asked to post an upcoming festival as a possibility for a road trip/event for the club in October. The "Brushy Mountain Apple Festival" in North Wilksboro, NC, is one of the largest one-day arts and crafts festivals in the Southeast. The streets of downtown North Wilkesboro are blocked off and filled with over 425 arts and crafts booths, more than 100 food concession stands, and 4 different music stages consisting of Blue Grass, Country, Folk, Gospel, and Appalachian Heritage music. Cloggers, folk dancers, rope skippers, and square dancers provide additional entertainment venues for festival goers. Appalachian Heritage crafts are also highlighted such as woodcarving, chair making, soap making, pottery throwing, and quilting. And as it's namesake would imply, local apple growers set up throughout the festival selling their apples, apple cider, apple butter, fried apple pies and dried apples. Here is the web site for more information on the Brushy Mountain Apple Festival. http://www.applefestival.net
In addition, an early October drive to North Wilksboro promises some beautiful autumn leaves for anyone who is a "Motoring Leaf Peeper!" I can't promise that I'll have the 3rd of October off from work....as week-ends off are a RARE COMMODITY for me....but perhaps someone else in the club can lead a caravan of MINI's to an INCREDIBLY fun day at the festival in North Wilksboro. Just reply if you are interested in going....and even if Tamara and I cannot attend, I will be happy to organize a trip for the rest of the club.
Attendees:
1. Lil Blue Coop & Mini Rose
2. Tall Mini
3. Jabell2r
4. Ssigmon

Just got my October schedule....man, I am sooooo bummed out! I was hoping for a miracle....tried to get 2 weekends off in a row....Oct. 3 AND Oct. 10. WHAT WAS I THINKING!!!! As it turns out, I was able to get the weekend of the 10th off to host the End of Summmer Road Rally and Weenie Roast, but I couldn't get the weekend of the 3rd to go to the Brushy Mountain Apple Festival. John, I am so glad you could step up and lead the way up to North Wilksboro. I won't be able to make this trip, but Tamara and I....and "Tillman" will be there in spirit! I've been to this festival several times and I know everyone will have a great time!

Hey Guys!
I am not going to be able to make it on this trip. We will not be back from our trip from Fripp Island. I thought we could do it but my husband says its not doable. So maybe next time. We will be driving back from a weeks vacation and I can see why he doesn't feel like getting up at 5:00 am to head back so I can to a Mini trip. Have Fun without me.

I'm so glad you guys had a great time....the festival has been growing each year for the last several years and it just seems to get better and better! I'm jealous that I couldn't go. I ended up in San Francisco....but I REALLY would have preferred to be in North Wilksboro!
