End of Summer "Road Rally" and "Weenie Roast" Oct. 10, 2009
Hey Everyone!
The end of Summer is rapidly approaching so Tamara and I thought it would be fun to celebrate it with a local "Road Rally" and "Weenie Roast" picnic at Jetton Park (in the Lake Norman area), 19000 Jetton Road, Cornelius, NC on Saturday, October 10, 2009. We will meet in the parking lot next to the Park Office/Waterfront Hall in Jetton Park (see attached map below) at 1:00 PM so that we can be underway around 1:30 PM. The rally will take between 2 and 1/2 to 3 hours which should get us back around 4:30 PM for a "Weenie Roast" picnic and a relaxing evening in the park until it closes at dusk (around 8:00 PM). The picnic is FREE to all M2C2 members and their guests....but we hope that everyone will consider making a contribution to the club's charity, "The Speedway Children's Charities" for all the great work they do.
Due to the size (or "lack thereof") of the park picnic decks, we will be limited to the first 20 people who sign-up for this event. So don't wait....sign up early and have a GREAT time "motoring" with your fellow M2C2'ers at the rally and picnic....AND help us raise some money for a good cause!
Hope you'll join us!
Dennis and Tamara Dietzel....and of course,
Tillman, the "Uber Cooper"
p.s. remember to bring your hand-held radios as we will be using them to keep in touch during the rally on channel 7, sub-channel 21.
ATTENDEES:
1. minidiver (2) Dennis & Tamara

I will not be able to make it. I have been scheduled for some surgery on Oct. 7th and will be out of commission for a while. I was looking forward to the Euro Auto Fair on the 18th. It really bites! I did want you to know Dennis that I have named my Mini. Her name is "Stirling", after Stirling Moss the English Race Car Driver. He was one of the first customers to buy a Cooper 500. He raced Coopers on and off much of his career. Plus its a play on words, Sterling Silver, Stirling Moss.
Hope to see you at the next event.

Perfect, Susan....every great car deserves a great name! Sorry you and Jamie can't make it to the rally and picnic....we'll see you at the next event!

Ok....clarification time! The End of Summer Road Rally and Weenie Roast was never about money (see original quote below).
What it IS about, is an opportunity to get together as a club to celebrate the end of summer with a road rally followed by an outdoor picnic in a beautiful park on Lake Norman. We totally agree that times are tough....so let me be clear. No one who attends will be REQUIRED or EXPECTED to donate to the club's charity. However, if you would LIKE to make a donation to the Speedway Children's Charities, I am certain it would be greatly appreciated.
We sincerely hope that you will join us for an afternoon of fun and camaraderie....after all....that's what owning a MINI is all about!

Hey Everyone!
I just checked with the folks from the Parks and Recreation Dept., and even though our picnic deck has seating for approximately 20, we are not necessarily LIMITED to only 20. Sooo....I interpret that to mean that we can have a few extra people in folding lawn chairs....or just standing around....in case your "sitter" is tired of "sitting!" So if we have several more folks interested in coming, we should be able to accomodate you....just bring along a folding chair if you are #21 or later to sign up!
Secondly, the $3.00 per car park entry fee ($5.00 for non-Mecklenburg County cars) will not apply to our group! Just drive up in your cute little MINI....mention to the park attendant that your are with M2C2....and they will let you motor right on in!
If anyone needs directions to Jetton Park or has any other questions, just PM me and I will be glad to help you!

Hey Everyone!
I've been keeping an eye on the weather forecast for this weekend and it looks like there is a 50% chance of rain on Saturday........so I thought it would be a good idea to have a "Plan B" in case of inclement weather.
I will make a final check on the weather Saturday morning around 10:00 AM and post the results here on this thread as to whether we can safely go on the rally ....or if we will have to cancel and reschedule at a later date . Please feel free to call me if you have any questions....my cell phone number is (704) 905-5328.
So keep your fingers crossed....think positive....and whatever you do, DON'T wash your MINI (as this will ENSURE rain showers )....and hopefully we will have good weather and a GREAT time motoring!!!!
We are looking forward to seeing you at Jetton Park on Saturday, October 10 at 1:00 PM!
Directions from Charlotte to Jetton Park: Get on I-77 North and go approximately 18 miles. Take Exit 28 (Lake Norman/Cornelius) and at the top of the ramp, turn left on West Catawba Avenue. Go 1.2 miles then turn right on Jetton Road. Go 0.6 miles and Jetton Park will be on the left. Meet in the parking lot next to the park office and Waterfront Hall at the rear of the park (see file attachment for Jetton Park on original posting below).

Good Morning Everyone!
So far we are still on for the rally and picnic. It is about 10:15 and so far all we have had in the Lake Norman area are a few very light showers. The NexRad radar indicates waves of very light rain for the remainder of the afternoon so as long as it doesn't get any worse than that, I think we should be fine. The picnic in the park after the "fun run" remains to be seen....but as an alternative, we can have the "weenie roast" at our house afterwards. I will post one more time around 12:00 PM....just before most of you would have to leave to get to Jetton Park by 1:00 PM....to make a final go, no-go determination. Once again, you can reach me on my cell phone at (704) 905-5328 if you have any questions.
