So we're up to 8 MINIs now. Not as great as the last date, but it looks like we're getting there. I know a lot of people who signed up last time were last minute, so maybe we'll have some more sign up!

I can't wait, it's going to be a lot of fun!

Umm... Thanks Luke for moving the thread, but I already had a new one started with a new list of people... It wouldn't still be on here would it?

Is there a way to un-move a thread? Maybe that would do it?

Please add MINIRee (Marie) and DrkTower (Paul -- he changed his screen name ). We'll each have a passenger, so 2 MINIs + 4 people. Thanks! Had a great time yesterday at the show!

I's confoosed... do I need to post here and on the Apr 26 Drive thread?

Anyway, count me in for a drive through "the Austin of the East!" (weeps for Texas)

And Ben, how come I had to hear about this from Sue!?! I mean it was on here of course, but she also had to tell me how to get here. Both: not my fault! I'm going to drink some Abita in front of you now and not offer you any

Oh Yeh! Although now my MINI doesn't look as purple when next to those... Anywho... I got some wax on the front bumper on the black, I can't get it off, anyone know a way? So far I've tried washing with a coarse sponge and Acetone...

Was in Texas for several days and didn't see the Abita is it a local brewed
beer? I drank my fill of Rock Bottom Wheat beer in Phoenix AZ.

Hello everyone - sounds like fun. Add Bill + I to the list. We're thinking of staying over in Asheville.. anyone recommend a good hotel? This is our first drive there... Since we're coming from Lake Hartwell - what would be a good route to the meeting place? Need directions. Thank you. db

Mmm Rock Bottom. It's out of Abita Springs, LA (New Orleans) but it's pretty prevalent...you can get it in most grocery stores in the Upstate, and Texas for that matter - at least the Gulf Coast. I'll be happy to bring you some though

I have not tried it before, but for years I've heard that using peanut butter on the wax area and leave it a while will work to remove the wax. I did use peanut butter on my bumper one time to remove glue from an old bumper sticker and it did the job. It sounds strange, but I have heard it many times before.

Asheville Hotels

Assuming that you're a bit of a discriminating traveller I'd go with either

http://www.biltmore.com/stay/ Inn on Biltmore Estate and I'd recommend dinner in The Dining Room. Continental fine dining fare, you'll want to bring a coat to dinner and you'll definitely need reservations.

http://www.richmondhillinn.com/ The Richmond Hill Inn and dine at Gabrielle's. Fine dining fare and I'd recommend the tasting menu. You'll need a coat and tie and definitely reservations.

You might also hear recommendations for the Grove Park Inn but I cannot recommend that establishment. They have gone somewhat downhill (and now cater quite a bit to the motorcoach tour trade). Food there is, at best, just competent and the brunch buffet is woefully oversubscribed. Rooms in the old section are quite charming but rooms in the additions are extremely unremarkable.

You can probably just map quest the address. Again for everyone else, all info for this rally is on page three of this forum.

Staying at the Estate or Richmond Hill would be very nice, but will set you back quite a bit, we have a Double Tree in Biltmore Forrest which would probably be a little less expensive.

I'll try the peanut butter and let you know if it worked. Thanx!

I have a suggestion about the wax. There are a bunch threads on here addressing that. They range from using peanut butter to isopropyl alcohol with a tooth brush.

If you don't want to go the "homebrew" route, OctaneGuy came up with a "secret sauce" called Black Wow. I think. Can't remember exactly right now.
Look in the detailing sub-forum for more info.

As far as the ride...... I am not going to be able to make it. I have a birthday party to attend. Just confirmed the times.
