Turbo Options Mega Thread

Hey Guys! I'm new here, Was having some problem navigating the turbo options for this platform, So I thought Id compile a list of the presently available Stock Exhaust manifold turbo options, This is what I have so far let me know if I'm missing any important turbos or if you can fill in any gaps!

I think after doing this research I'm going to end up with the Mamba 9-7 K04 PRO K04-4660, It seems to be a well balanced turbo and ive found a few accounts of 300whp which is my goal on stock internals.

If your mind is already made up, I'll just mention these other choices that should have been listed, for others to consider. I don't have the specs on them, just seen good references. Couple of those listed above have "mixed" reviews and should be avoided.

Owen Developments --- https://www.owendevelopments.co.uk
Prototype-R --- https://prototype-r.com
TurboKits --- https://www.turbokits.com/catalogsea...sing&amnoroute

First two are hybrids and are direct bolt-ons --- more or less. Last one is a kit with a big Garrett, which includes an adapter to fit the OEM manifold. This is the one I chose when first starting my build in 2010. Most of the others listed above weren't available then.

Whatever your choice, make sure you understand the consequences of choosing a "bigger" turbo. Things like turbo lag, interaction with light flywheels, A/R differences --- all will have different performance results. I highly recommend learning about Borg Warner's "Match-Bot" and reading Garrett's "Turbo-Tech" series, BEFORE buying an upgrade. Both a great source of info.

Read reviews and before buying any turbo you've listed.

For what its worth, I've been running the larger Blaast K04 for about a year now. Not allot of folks in the Mini community running them, but I'm Canadian and they are in Montreal so it made sense to me. The unit has been flawless. I've got an Autometer analogue boost gauge keeping tabs and the turbo has no issues keeping me at 20-22psi right through to redline. If I recall correctly, I paid +/- $1,000 USD for mine.
