Correct. Mine has the Sport suspension. I think the springs will work with the DDC if that's what you're wondering. Give Jerry a call at NM. He'll give you the straight scoop.

Incorrectamundo! If you don't have a standard suspension you have a DDC. In the '16 models only the JCW came with sport suspension. It was discontinued as an option for the S after the '15 model. The DDC has a sport setting, but it's not as aggressive as the sport suspension. The code for the sport suspension option was 226. I see you have the "Sport Package", but that only includes updated lights, wheels, etc. Nothing to do with the suspension.
I think you will be impressed with the handling if in fact you can use the springs. The sway bar, end links, and control arms are compatible for sure.
Let us know what you find out when you speak with Jerry. Personally, I'm betting the springs will work fine.

have you done any post-install datalogging with the IC...just got home from getting mine done...want to compare values...specifically what is the difference between your IAT and ambient temps.

 

Haven't had a chance to do much of anything. Either I've been working on the car or the weather has sucked.

Front brakes were installed with NM stainless brake lines. I was worried for a moment that the wheels wouldn't fit over these rotors. Things are huge!

Only downside of this work is I lost all the coding I had done at the Dragon. Software has to be updated for the JCW brakes and once the program starts to run it updates everything. Small price to pay for these brakes though.

The springs closed the wheel well gap nicely too.

How did you mount the scangauge on the left side by the tach?

 

Used a longer screw and mounted the arm to one of the Garmin mounting holes. I'll see if I can get a picture of the rear of the Tach/speedo tomorrow when it cools off a little. I'll have to extend the steering column and lower it to be able to see it.

How do the brakes feel around town or mountain roads? Firmer pedal, more in control? Or would need to really push it hard to notice a difference?

 

Brakes feel great. I would recommend anyone doing this mod install braided stainless lines. That'll help get rid of the soft pedal feel some people experience when using the stock rubber lines. Pedal doesn't feel that much different from the standard S, but when you really get on them it feels like you're gonna do a nose wheelie. I'll be in the mountains of western NC next weekend and hope to have enough time to hit the Dragon for a couple of runs. I'll have a better feel for the brake and suspension mods then.
The brakes are definitely a mod I would recommend, but remember, you'll need to invest in different wheels and stainless lines too. Adds up pretty quick.

 

Just finished installing my AC Schnitzer splitter. Pretty straight forward job as long as you make sure they send the correct hardware. This is on a MCS. You folks with a JCW may have a different experience. I'll have better pictures soon. Too frackin' hot right now.

Was quoted $2,,500 for tuner exhaust and ecu flash. Got it for $2,000. You have to have dealer install because it is the ecu flash that gets you the extra 30 horsepower.

Got mine before picking up new Cooper S last week and it totally rocks.

 

My independent Mini/BMW tech has the BMW software on his computer and was able to update my software at the same time he installed the tune. All you need is the software and the code specific to that particular kit. I still have the paperwork with the code if there's ever a problem in the future.

 

and if i'm not mistaken, you need to submit your vin and they spit out a software that is specific to your car. you can't just flash the jcw tune to any vehicle w/out a vin.

If I'm not mistaken, the computer will read the VIN when It's hooked up to flash the ECU. The tune is not assigned a VIN until that time. My tech still has the tune from a kit he sold to another member with a JCW. He only charged for the exhaust system and installation so he still has a tune he can use on any 3rd Gen MCS the he wants.
