Problem with cupholder

Anyone else have this problem? My wife's R56 cup holder does such a good job of holding a cup, she can't remove a cup without spilling it's contents all over the interior. It seems cups go into the holder easily, but the 4 rubber gaskets prevents her from removing anything easily. Anybody have a solution for this?

Thanks

- Remove the cup w/ greater care
- get a different cup (better/different lid to prevent spillage)
- don't drink in your MINI

Believe it or not, I chose option 3.

That is typical when it is new. You can duct/packing tape/silicone 2 of the tabs down until they stay in that position. Some people have cut them off, but I didn't like that idea. As it ages, it will loosen up.

I'm going with Option #2. I never have used those typical shiny silver cups with the black lids, but am using one now and it works better. Just find a cup with the right size. Plus, the tops close, helping to prevent spills.

Easy solution. Get a full can or cup (w/lid) and leave it in the cup holder for a day or two to loosen up the rubber.

I went with option #4 Only water in the 500ml bottles.

For the discriminating driver: racing-style camel-pack filled with liquid of choice.

mine are pretty tight too... however you just remember to slowly twist as you pull up on your drink of choice, it comes out a little easier and doesn't end up as a rorschach on the ceiling of your baby...

Shake some baby powder into the holders. Works great. Serioulsy, the things do grip a can very tightly. I'm considering either trimming the rubber or something to loosen the grip. I don't drive that fast with a can in the holders.
