Garage doors transmitter question

I can't find the opener to my garage door so I can't set the thing in the Mini. Any of you superintelligent beings out there have a solution as to how I might get onother one so I can use it (I can't be the only one to lose theirs)? I know this is a bit offtopic buy hey, who's counting! Thanks.

This response presumes I'm reading your post correctly.

1. I bought a universal garage door opener at Lowes a couple of years ago. With it, when sliding back the cover there are thumb wheel switches that you match with the thumb wheel switches on your garage door opener.

2. I had an Audi with a garage door opener built in. I don't remember needing my regular garage door opener to set it up. But it was kind of tricky. It was necessary to follow the directions with detailed accuracy to make tha darned thing work.

I'd look into getting a replacement at a Big Box store. Just make sure it's compatible with the brand and model of opener you have.

If your garage door opener is pretty new (within the last several years) it should be one with a rolling security code. If so there should be a learning button on the actual unit. The button should be either red or black.......just press the button then get into the car and press and hold the button for the transciever. The LED should start to blink and flash rapidly after about 20 sec. It should then be programmed.

Hope this helps...

I did it. It's an old opener with the 12 little switch things. I got a cheap one at Home Depot and got it to work. Now I'll take it back tomorrow!
