Where have all the posters gone?

Where have all the original posters gone--out motoring? There were a bunch more people back in the days before the intro, when everyone was waiting. Now they've gone--are any of them still on line and just lurking?

C'mon--tell us what you've been up to. How do you like your new ride, how many miles, what DON'T you like, any problems? C'mon, spill!

I suspect they're all out motoring. Nothing like a launch to produce a ton of drama....but by now I think we've all realized R56 has amply proven itself. Or perhaps they simply ran out of explicatives to describe their euphoria. Or perhaps their all back at the dealer with "check engine" lights on. I suspect the first theory, though.

Remember when all we heard from certain people was what a mistake a "first year" car was?

Gone out motoring, every one.

Actually, I was thinking the same thing. Before they got their cars, everyone was here trying to figure things out. Now, it has gone relatively quiet.

I for one, was in Mallorca, Spain. Didn't have a MINI as my rental car there, but I did have a Mercedes A150... no, it's no MINI, but it was fun.

My MINI, has had to wait almost two weeks to go motoring. Probably will have it out tommorrow!

I still lurk and reply when I feel compelled but for me a lot of the posts are repetitive. So, I have been branching out into the other areas of the board. That and Im getting ready for MOTD Maddy has 3200+ miles on her now and is running like a dream. I couldnt be happier! There are only a few things that bug me like having to hold the sunroof toggle to tip then open it for example. I think the biggest problem Im having right now is deciding which mods to do first

2700 miles and the following:
  • one new flywheel and clutch
  • one ding (repaired)
  • one scratch (soon to be fixed)
  • one buzz from the dash
  • poorly PDI'd by Tate MINI (missing fuses for headlight washers and headlights 1" too low now fixed by Towson MINI)
Still loving the car a lot and can't wait to get to the Dragon!

Where is the buzz in your dash? I've got one on the left side, and I can't figure if it's the dash or the radar detector (it stops when I put my hand on the detector, then starts again, even while still holding it).

Waiting on Ian's switch mod to do auto down the windows and auto open the sunroof. I got the sports suspension upgrade but finding I still want a thicker rear sway bar so I can pivot around corners. Anxiously awaiting the first tuner who cracks the ECU - I'm imagining it will be GIAC (they have a lot of experience with DI engines)

You mean auto-up the windows, don't you? It took me a month to realize that the passenger window does auto-down as well - doh! What can I say - every other car I have ever been in reserved that for the drivers window.

I've got about 1600 miles now and the car has been great. My biggest problem is the velcro on the drivers floor mat is so strong its peeling the velcro off the mat. Those damn first year mats!

The admins encouraged the R56 posters to migrate some comments toward the General MINI boards. I think this was a good idea, because it almost felt like the R56 gang was unintentionally separating themselves from the rest of the MINI community.

That's fine when it works. There wasn't any response to a question about 215/45 tires in the General Tires, Wheels, & Brakes forum, but I got good answers here.

Well.. I 've been out motoring mostly. Tearing up some local back roads so far. Shopping around for some R compound autox tires, and some wheels.

I just bought the gominigo no holes front license plate and mounted it the other day. Waxed the car. Etc.

I'm out of the break-in period now so now It's full blast everywhere I go. I have been averaging around 27.6 mpg per tank (Hand calculated. About 28mpg indicated by the computer.)

I never drive the car without the sport button. Great car so far. I'm really happy with it.

Ahhh, another graduate from the 'Skuzzy School of Whine'

I dun't(tm) know anything about an admin request to post in other forums. Course, I only peruse three or four forums as that is all I have time to keep up with.

I just figured with Spring starting up, all the OCD'ers are too busy with the toothbrush, cleaners, waxes, and Monster Fluffy's to bother posting.

I know if I HAD MY MINI, I would have been outside all day yesterday, motoring about, then be busy all day today detailing her. But then, I would be posting pictures of 'Romi' and myself and talking about all the motoring fun we are having.

BUT I NEED THE CAR FIRST!!! ARRRRRGGGGHHHHHH!!!!

Geez gokartride, I just realized you are from Arlington. I am in Grapevine. You going through Moritz? Ernestine is my sales person.

Krut, not this year. Next year for sure. I presume Dragoon is MOTD? Or is that something different?

I've been on business travel 3 of the last 4 weeks, so just have 1600 miles on Queso so far. I like the way this one drives, but rarely use the sport button. I like the throttle control in "normal" mode for driving in traffic. I miss the temp gauge. The gearshift lever is too long, **** sits too high. Torque is great. Seats are better. Can't wait to leave for North Carolina on Wednesday!

If you are real nice, Mr Kart will show you where the secret breakfast place is . . . Ernestine is a very nice lady, Moritz is a classy dealer.

She is a sweet lady. The wife and I have had fun buying the Mini. Ernestine thinks we are nuts.

Moritz seems like a straight up kind of place. How is the service department?

I'm on my third MINI from Moritz (fourth one overall) and the service has been outstanding. Bryan and Eric are both good to work with and they have always been willing to work around my crazy travel schedule. I've been impressed.

Auto open sunroof would be really great! I have no idea why something so simple bugs me like it does I havent read about the switch mod, where can I find out more about it? A sway bar is definately on my list, any suggestions on who's to get? Admittedly, Im holding back on mods like exhaust, ECU, boost, etc until others take the lead. I want to see some consistent results before jumping in. I like my warranty
