Sunroof Updates??

I spoke with the MA and was told that he has had no problems with the sunroof noise issues with models produced after March 07.

Any comments???

Thanks

I would say it's pretty early yet.
My car finished production on April 12th, and I don't have it yet, so those that are March builds have only had their cars for maybe a month (Except for Skuzzy of course...)

Mine was built about that week. No issues with it so far.

Now, when everyone says "no noise" does that mean absolutely no noise whatsoever at any speed from the sunroof? Or a low/medium pitched wind buffeting noise at high speeds that's expected from any sunroof? Sorry if this is hijacking, I'm just trying to get some clarification.

No unusually loud noise. Yes, there is wind buffeting sound when on the freeway, but nothing more than in the '05.

I picked my Mini up on April 9th and haven't had any wind noise at all. She's about twice as quiet as my R-53. The only thing that still ticks me off is that you have to hold the sunroof toggle to open and close. No one flick open / close. That is really aggorvating.

spykdpunch, I think people here are referring to closed sunroofs. I don't think anyone has a way of keeping open sunroofs from making noise--at least not on any car I've ever had.

BTW, my January build sunroof continues to be quiet.

I was referring to a closed sunroof. As I've never had a sunroof before I wasn't sure what is considered "normal".

But now I do. Therefore, my Mini's sunroof (which was a late Feb build) is totally quiet. No rattles, squeaks, or whistling.

Mine is a March build as well and I haven't had any noise problems. Here in Oregon, it's so quiet there isn't even any noise when it's open. Except, of course, when it's raining.

No bonnet gaps, either, but that's another thread.

Thanks for the input. I plan on ordering a Cooper this week and was worried about some of the previous comments members made regarding the problems they are having. Now I have to convince the little lady that the the sunshade is on the roof does indeed block the sun to some degree. She would like to have the solid style that we have in our other vehicles.

No problems with my sunroof either, for a build completed on 3/19. Note that you can get aftermarket opaque, roll-up, covers if the sunshade isn't quite enough. No personal experience with them yet, but I'm planning on trying one. And there is the somewhat controversial optional of tinting the sunroof.

I believe all sunroofs make noise, (when closed), at freeway speeds. Mine is quiet up to around 90mph.

If only they made sunroofs that were silent while open. No, I was always referring to a closed sunroof.

BritBoy: seems you got the sunroof problem fixed.

Actually, BritBoy, mine makes no noise at all--at any speed.
