Things that drive me crazy about my R56

Love my car, don't get me wrong..wouldn't drive anything else right now, but............

the doors don't stay open when you are trying to get out!

the diving lights don't go off by themselves!!!!!!!! (the top portion of the fog lights)

sunroof shade. not dark enough. I would trade the double sunroof for a single with a solid sliding shade

windows don't go up when you close the door everytime..only sometimes

no storage/center console....I guess i could get one, but it should come with some kind of storage compartment on the driver's side for small stuff

maybe i am being too picky...overall i love my car.

oh..it could use about 100 more hp. hehe

The doors have detents that hold the door open at 3 different angles. You have to rest the door at one of these detents to keep the door in position. My roommate has the same problem you do, where he wants to open the door and keep it between detents, and it'll slam back on him. You're have to please the car and put the doors where it wants them, or deal with holding the door when you're ingressing/egressing.

I'm not sure what you mean by the running lights, but mine work when I turn them on and turn off when I turn them off. My windows also work fine; you may need to reset your sensor however. Roll the windows up, and then keep holding the up switch for an additional 5 seconds to reset the sensor.

I do agree on the storage thing. I wish the door pocket was as big as my '04 MCS's door pocket. I don't like how they cut the storage in half for no good reason.

As for the 100HP, sounds like there's a Cooper S in your future!
Cheers,
Ryan

Previous gen was the same. Annoying.

That'd be the parking lights. I've seen them go out.

The small amout it goes down when you open the door? I haven't noticed that myself, but someone else mentioned the same thing about the passenger door.

There is that small cubby hole below the foglights/windows/locks area switches. I just ordered the "made to fit" storage box for it too from Mini Mania, its only $10.95 plus shipping and handling and they even offer to have the USPS deliver it 1st class mail which I did because its a bit cheaper, but does take a little longer for delivery but that's ok my wife is a mail lady

So far...
I wish the mood lighting was brighter.
I wish my white side lights and sun shade would get here.
I wish I had more time to drive.

I feel for Skuzzy.

The saddest thing to me about this is that these are all complaints that the R53 guys have had for years, yet MINI obviously hasn't addressed them when switching to the R56.

There is nothing like seeing your windows cracked open when you have been in a movie for 3 hours in the rain in a shady parking lot known for theft.

I like the idea of a sun shade that you can still see through, but there is probably a reason why nobody else offers them...

And as far as the doors are concerned, I've never really had issues, but passengers do. If I have to park next to another car and a passenger is getting out, I can always tell they are afraid to let it go to the 2nd detent because they don't want to get too close to other cars. So instead they look clumsy getting out because they have the door shutting on them the whole time.

hmm your right the fog lights do not ever go out, they are either slightly on or full bright when you flip the fog light switch. they only turn off when you turn the headlights off, but they are always on even if you havent flicked the fog light switch.

as for mood lighting, I wish a couple things, 1 you could turn it completely off,
and 2 that it changed all the lights in the car including the sped, tach, etc to match the same color. really odd having bright orange tach and dash and blue mood lighting, and mood lighting set to match the dash is just too much orange imho.

I wish I didnt have to press the sport button every time I start the car.

I wish the radio would remember my mp3 cd settings so that I dont have to hist list and then track to see the artist/song every time I get in the car(wth should just remember the settings).

I wish they had not sealed my cubby storage to prevent it from rattling, cause guess what, my sealed and useless storage cubby buzzes anyway when I drive down the road. so not only is it useless but it makes noise anyway, ugh.

car should come from the factory with as a storage compartment arm rest.

as for the two piece moonroof, unfortunately I think for here in texas its going to need 5% window tint cause the sun just beats down on your head too much and that little screen only works in the winter time, its not enough for the hot days.

The volume **** that is nowhere near the audio system. It would have been much better had they just used the control **** in the speedo for volume control and then let you push it in once to get the functionallity it has now of moving between presets. Eliminating the volume *** would have opened up real estate in the center stack that would be perfect for mounting a Nuvi.

LynnEl I got the call on Monday. My MA said maybe tuesday and when I didn't get a call by that night I was sooo depressed. Got it yesterday and the wait was worth it. Before yesterday, I a lot of time reading NAM and MINI2, now that it's here, I just want to drive.

Glad you are happy. My wife is enjoying the wait. To keep myself busy I've done about 7 long-delayed projects.

Mine does the same thing. Annoying, I know. My Honduh did the same thing.

Now that is odd. Mine go off after a minute or two.

no storage/center console....I guess i could get one, but it should come with some kind of storage compartment on the driver's side for small stuff
You know there is a very small amount of "storage" in the center armrest right? Push the top rubber section back and it reveals a small compartment. I keep my IPod adapter, phone charger and pen in there. Since I have my secret compartment locked I need all I can get!

My windows don't go up all the way every time either - only sometimes. My MA told me to bring the car in. I'm assuming this is a defect they can fix.
