On the highway coming back from New Hampshire, I was going about 90 mph when I passed an unmarked car traveling in the slow lane... Before I knew it, I was on the side of the road with nearly every car I overtook honking at me, bastards.... Anwyays, the copper climbs out of his ford, comes up to my window, asking what the hell I was driving! Seeing an opportunity, I started talking to him and before I knew it, he was sitting behind the wheel trying it on for size! NO TICKET! I don't know how it keeps happening, becasue this is the second time I've only gotten a warning! Anyone else have a simmilar experience?

Today I was motoring a little too quickly through Loch Raven and there was a cop there....he knew I was speeding and actually yelled "slow down!" to me.....but he didn't bother coming after me.

I had the same thing happen to me, I was well past the double nickel limit when the cop just yelled at me to slow down, of course I did in a hurry, I don't need any tickets, my insurance is already high enough without any violations

I only wish. I was visting NY state near Buffalo and got a little tired of this big 'ol pickup in front of me going at or slightly below the 40 MPH limit. I have the CVT, so I bumped it over into the "M+S" sport mode and punched it. Just my luck the pig was coming in the opposite lane amongst a little pack of cars. I had to nail it a little extra to make sure I had enough time to get around the pickup, and he clocked me - from within the pack of cars traveling the opposite direction - at 67 in the 40 zone -- Needless to say the MINI suprised even me. I think he got some sick satisfaction out of pulling over some guy in a little european "sports car."

That is awesome Tollag! I hope this is a trend among law enforcement Unmarked cars suck- glad we don't have them in CA! I had a cop approach me in a parking lot, asking about the car. I got nervous because all I need is a cop in a bad mood to write me up for the euro plate in front and the illegally tinted windows. I would let them site in it if it got me out of a tcket or two!

Thanks for the advice. Even with the cruise control, I still speed and am so afraid that having this bright red car, the cops will just pull me over. Now I am ready.

I wasn't speeding, but a sheriff was involved, so you've got to love this story. My husband has a Liquid Yellow 2002 MC. He was out of town for a few weeks and I used his car to pick him up at the airport, John Wayne in OC, CA. In order to park at the airport you must have your car inspected by an Orange County sheriff. So, I get into the inspection line, behind a brand new Mercedes 500 series sedan. The sheriff made everyone in the Mercedes get out of the car and she inspected that car from head to toe. She gave them the ok and the Mercedes proceeded into the parking lot. I pulled up next, opened the window and the sheriff screams at me "How cute is your car!" "You are awesome" and waves me forward to park. No getting out of the car, no inspection, just pure adoration! Something about this car completely disables law enforcement!

Don't press your luck, for every one like you drew, there's two who go by the book, and won't hesitate to throw it at you, if for no other reason than its easier to write "MINI" in the make portion of the ticket than it is "FERRARI"

Tollag,
I must say I am insanely jealous that you got out of that ticket! Please tell me it wasn't in Gray, ME because I have gotten TWO tickets there in one week!

But I did manage to get out of one one the Mass Pike last Thurs. If you are familiar with the toll booth where the Mass Pike meets 93, the speed limit through the "FAST LANE" is 15 mph. I got busted whipping through there going 42 mph. He pulls me over, asks for my license and registration, then proceeds to check out the dash board and the car interior. He tells me how fast I was going and I reply, "You think I would be able to see that from the size of that speedometer, huh? Sorry, I just got the car, still getting used to it being over there in the middle..." He just smiled and let me go. Third times a charm I guess...

(Yeah, I know, I need to ease up on that gas pedal! This is actually the first time I have EVER gotten out of a ticket so I know I won't be so lucky again.)

I've been pretty lucky with cops *knocks on wood* I've gotten away with doing 100 in a 65 zone!(on a highway.... the turnpike to be more specific) I'm hoping i can keep on that "streak" of not getting caught! But if i do get caught, i hope it's in my MINI and the cop likes the car enough to be leanient and let me go....... the magic Mini can make any traffic violation disappear!

PureSilver, it wasn't Gray... It was around exit 4 on the Turnpike, so I guess it was Biddeford. I suppose I'm just lucky in the Mini... I was pulled over 3 times in one winter (2 by te same cop) in South Paris on my way to Sunday River in my Astro!

Biddeford? Guess I'll have to be careful next time I take a trip to O.O.B.!

Ah, that sucks! I had my share of blue lights on Sunday River runs back in high school in my, (dare I say), 1985 Plymouth Horizon!

Woah! I go back up to Maine quite a bit--have to watch out. Once when I *was not* driving a Mini yet, a Maine State Trooper gave me a ticket on my way back home from my (belated) college graduation! Nice homecoming present, eh? But last week, in my new MINI, I was coming back over the border from St. Stephen, New Brunswick into Calais, Maine. The officer asked the usual "any liquor?" etc. and then asked, "What kind of car is that?" It seems it does hold some fascination for troopers...

Got my first speeding ticket ever today.
I guess I was not so lucky.
I wasn't even really speeding, I just overtook a slow Jetta in the left lane.
I was clocked at 67 in a 40. Whoops.
Oh well.

Hey most of this is really encouraging. My husband and I were sort of "bugeting in" speeding tickets as well as insurance etc as just part of MINI ownership. I have a pretty heavy foot, but manage to get out of most tickets...hope my luck is good with the MINI!
