Bug guts and white mirror caps?...

Hi everyone,
I know there's been lots of discussion on invisishield, etc, on the forums, but I was wondering if anyone with white mirror caps had noticed that bug splatters tend to show up quickly / excessively, etc.

I am in the process of building an 07 MC, and was thinking of white roof and mirror caps, until I thought that bugs might show up awfully quickly on white mirrors...

Any thoughts?
Thanks!

I've got the Union Jack mirror caps, and haven't seen anything unusual. Perhaps that's another way to go?

My current car is white, and bug splatter can be unsightly. Fortunately I live in an area where hordes of insects aren't an issue, but on long road trips it can get pretty gnarly. The key is to clean off the mess as quickly as possible so it doesn't damage the paint. However, the shape of my mirrors is much flatter than that of the Mini's. I think the curvature of the Mini's mirrors may help alleviate the bug splatter through aerodynamics (i.e. directing the bug up and over the mirror). At least, that's what I'm hoping.

I get a lot of bug splatter and have white mirrors on my Cooper. I have found that Quick Detailler will take it off fast with a bit of rubbing, but have also heard that WD-40 sprayed onto a rag will take it off even faster and without my having to exert much elbow grease...can't wait til bug season to try it out.

No moreso than the other facing surfaces, and the white accent makes it all worth it.

When cleaning that kind of crud off of white mirror caps, soak them first. Take a plush towel, thoroughly soak it in warm water and lay it over the mirror. It will loosen up all of the nasties so that they wipe right off.

Just clean them off when you wash your MINI. Soak them liberally in soapy water with your wash mitt and the bugs will come off. Polish the mirrors with a Porter Cable Dual Action Polisher when you wax and they will look brand new. I did this for 64,000 miles on my Indi Blue/White MINI.

The key is to not let the bug juice sit on the paint too long as they will etch the paint and will make it harder to remove any evidence of them.

I agree, just wash them well...easy. I have white mirror caps...love 'em...and the bugs are not an issue, really. If you like the look (as I do) just go with it and don't give it a second thought.
