I was just noticing that i'm averaging 34.4 overall mpg... I used to stop at the gas station once a day in my mustang, just to drop $25 each time... now i don't even remember the last time i saw the gas station.....
Completely agree, the Mini is really good with gas, little buddy takes care of your economy (after it rips off you wallet paying for it
) (In Mexico the cheapest cooper goes for about $21 K)
I thought my civic was good until I got the cooper. I now installed a k&n on it to see if it can catch up with the Mini in terms of mpg (though it has the tough part since it is an automatic and is heavier).
I´m getting over 24 mpg on very heavy traffic, ups and down hills, a/c on and a heavy foot on gas. That´s as good as it can get considering the car is not a slow turtle.

MY improved my overall MPG. The Computer is 2mpg off of what I calculated at the pump:
AVG 18mph.
Mostly in town (Boston,Brighton,Brookline) and some Highway (Storrow, I-90)
overall avg is now 24MPG.
I was getting 21 with the same driving patterns. I think MPG improves with Age.
Less than 20 mpg driving like a Grandma? You're kidding, right? If not it's time to get your MINI in for a serious checkup. I rarely get less than 30 mpg of exuberant mixed city/hiway driving.
Did you get better mileage before installing the exhaust and intake?
>>Not my MINI! Less than 20 mpg in the city, driving like a grandma.

No joke, unfortunately. I know I should just take it in and get it checked out, rather than whining about it on MCO every time a fuel economy thread comes up.
I didn't notice a change when I did the intake/exhaust, although I was hoping for a small improvement.

That seems to be a pattern with the cars. First 2000 miles, I was lucky to top 25 MPG. Now, 27 is about as bad as it gets, and I'm in an S.
>>Drove my MCS from Orlando to Clearwater, FL yesterday in 95d heat with the ac on (obviously)
Too funny. People usually refuse to ride with me. Being of redneck lineage, I like to ride with the windows down and the radio up. I generally won't even consider using A/C below 110 degrees. Yes, it's a dry heat here in PHX but.... so's my oven.

EPA likes the regular Cooper but not the Cooper S...I think they find it too gas thirsty for the class.
Also EPA likes my Chevy Impala...the most fuel efficient full size sedan in the market today. 34MPG out of a 3.8L V6..can you beat that?
