Installed Accessories - What did you pay?

I have ordered driving lamps, rear bumper protection and illuminated sills. The cost was around $1100, and the dealer is charging me about the same for installation! Seems like a lot of money to me. So I was wondering what others have paid.

I cannot speak for the R56 but for the R53, dealer installation charges are outrageous. I was quoted $450 to install driving lights. Thats on top of the price of the driving lights. I learned that lesson. Instead of spending $850 for MINI driving lights next time forget them ... buy some Hellas or comparable lights and get them installed ... total price under $300

Unfortunately, the aftermarket driving lamp kit isn't available for the R56 yet.

Good things come to those who wait ...I hope.

I'm definitely going aftermarket for the lights. At $1K installed from the dealer, well, I just can't deal with that. For $1K I can get after-market lights AND the ASA wheels I'm thinking about.

What aftermarket driving lamp kit.

Lamps are lamps, they are not going to change.

The issue is most likely "how" to mount them. Any competent high end stereo shop of customizing shop will figure out how to do it. Certainly there is a real bumper in there somewhere behind the plastic facade or grille, just need to tap into it.

For example, there were absolutely no mounting kits for my SUV for additional lights. I took it to a stereo shop and they fabricated two solid bars, welded them to the bumper ... problem solved.

If your going to wait until moss or somebody comes out with one, that might take a year. Try a custom shop first.

Any websites around offering R56 accessories yet? I've had a surf, but can't find any.

Driving lights - $810 installed
3M Clear Bra - $799 ($200 more than my local installer, but they did more stuff. All lights rear bumper etc.)
Mug flaps on 4 corners - $110 installed

I plan on checking about window tint. If the dealer can do a jub in the $200 range, I'll do it. I'll do lowering springs somewhere else after that and expect to pay $400-500.

I got quoted 400 bucks for window tinting, from a guy out of NYC since my dealer does not offer that. I want to get the Ceramic tinting from Huper Optik and have not found a dealer in CT yet

My dealer is quoting about 450 for the clear bra. Has anyone done a DIY on it? What would the savings be?

I am getting the following installed:

R56 JCW Aero Kit. Dealer is having it installed at the port so it costs 2650 total, instead of 3100 for a dealer installation

R56 driving lamps: They ARE a different bit of kit from the R53, and since I have the areo kit a different grill with the mounting brackets installed is needed. They also have a kit for where the switch goes so it goes with whatever color line you have installed. (Creme White, in my case). $750

iPod Adapter: This keeps going up... not happy. $580ish.

Rear Bumper protector, in black: $90 I think. Especially for the larger horizontal space on the R56 rear bumper, it just seems smart to do.

Also looking at tinting, but I'm unsure what to expect if I take the car out-of-state as to whether or not I can be pulled over for having Florida-legal tinting on my car. Anyone know? Any officers in here? $160 if I get the tint done at the dealers, but I think he just has someone come in to do it. It seems smart to do in FL though, at least to some extent.

Dealer recommends the carpet floormats, so going with that.

Not sure about "storage box" or "glove box organizer" but maybe. I'll need to see it first.

Eventually want the alarm system, but no word yet on availablity. Also want to get Sirius installed so I can use it through SatNav, but don't want the lifetime subscription tied to the VIN. Rather it be tied to MY lifetime, not the car's.

Also getting the Tuscan Leather interior, not sure if I want the shift **** or ebrake handle to match. Might be TOO matchy-matchy.

I don't believe the ipod adapter is available yet....My dealer tried to charge me $450 in advance for something he can't install. I cancelled it and will pay if and when it becomes available.

My dealer says he has them already and has done an install already. Odd.

$450 is a good price for clear bra. If you know how to tint, it guess you can DIY. You will be saving a ton.

For $1K you can get Xenon Driving lights that will blow away anything MINI has to offer. Check out the Hella FF200s in Xenon ... hellausa.com

$400 is dirt cheap. The material is cheap, the money is in the labor. Unless you really know what your doing, cleabra is not a DIY thing. Top quality clearbra installer get top dollar. Common to hear $1400 for a MINI installation, top and bottom.

My dealer is charging me $25 bucks to install mud flaps. I guess I shouldn't complain, based on the above.
