Tires to replace Eagle Run flat 17" tires

What's a good tire to replace the 17" Eagle run flats. Should I just buy the same tire or are there better tires or better buys?

Would you like to stay run flat?

Alex/anyone else who would like to contribute -

I have the same question. I would like to replace my factory runflats with performance-oriented runflats which will still offer a reasonable lifespan and be useable in the rain. I live in central CA, so normally no worries about below-freezing temps (or at least, not very often). My car is an 07 MCS, and I have 33,000 on the original Dunlop RFs. I drive fairly aggressively, and may use the car for occassional auto-x, perhaps even a track day here or there.
Suggestions please?
thanks,
Martin

Martin - Im thinking of BridgeStone Potenza G019

2 X the life time/50K and 1/2 the cost of Run Flat!

I have a Jetta Diesel for HWay, so My wife only drives around town - Im thinking of a spare at home so I can be AAA??

Im also thinking of going from 16 to 17 and getting Black Rims - was in So Cal recently and everyone had BLACK!!!

I just put 215 Dunlop Star Specs on mine and cannot believe the difference in cornering and straight line acceleration.

If you're in the market for all seasons, you should check out Michelin Pilot A/S Plus (non-run flats). I dumped my Eagles for a set of the Michelin's and the ride quality is so much better and they're grippier, too, plus they're almost half the price of OEM Eagles.

My switch from runflats last week to Potenza Grids on my 06 MC (16s) has resulted in a much smoother, quieter ride. America's tire honored the Tire Rack price, so dropped $26 off each tire.

johncates- the Dunlops are wonderful for water, highway and track without going to R compounds. They are expensive - $750. These are not runflats, and I do carry a tire plug kit and air compressor in the boot....the same one I would have used for runflats.
