Question about 16"runflats in new R56 MCS

Can you install a second gen runflat (16" size) from a new R56 MCS into the 16" R-84 V-spoke rim of a 1st gen MCS?

Just wanted to make sure, because next week I might get some brand new take offs from a friend of mine who is scheduled to take delivery of a new R56 MCS ordered with the standard 16"runflats.

Input is appreciated!

Also what are the differences between these new runflats and the OEM runflats fitted in R53 cars from factory?

You should be able to do it but your equiptment should be the right type to work with runflats. Many shops don't handle mounting and dismounting of runflats.

To double check you can contact Alex@tirerack.com

The wheels used on the R56 MINI have been changed to incorporate the EH2+ hump for 2nd generation run flat tires.

The following questions I emailed to MINI USA have yet to be answered:
  • Why were new molds for R90, R94, R95, R97, R98, R99 and R105 wheels cast to incorporate the EH2+ hump if the 1st generation wheels are "safe" to use with 2nd generation run flat tires?
  • Will 2nd generation run flats slip off the R84 wheels on my MINI when running with no air pressure?

So did you hear anything? I'm thinking of putting RFs from an '07 MCS on my '02 R84s.

Did the stud size change in '06 preventing me from mounting the '07 wheels on my '02?
