Nav Screen Frozen

Guys, I have an issue with my navigation system. I was driving home today looking for short cuts thru traffic, zooming in to 500m and out to 1000km and when I zoomed back to 500m, it froze. I could switch between the GPS screen, computer, off, etc ... but everytime I went back to the map it was stuck at that one location. I even tried using the guidence mode and it worked fine - told me where to turn right and left but the map was still frozen. I turned off the car and restarted it - same thing. I removed the DVD from the drive for a few minutes and when I put it back in - same thing - stock on that one location.

Any ideas how to fix this before I hit the dealership?
Ohh yeah, it's a 2005 MCS

I don't have nav, but you could try un-hooking the battery for ~30 minutes. Just be CAREFUL.

It wouldn't hurt. Plus, it subtracts one mile from the odometer!

Did the battery disconnect work? I picked up my car today but also have the same problem . The vehicle position on the map, which only showed after I manually entered it, doesn't update as I drive around. Further, it seems to shown the car pointed nearly 180 degrees from the direction I'm going. Frustrating because I noticed this at the dealer and we figured we just weren't getting satellite reception in the parking garage. Any help?

Just to update. I had the battery disconnected today to install DICE and when I hooked it back up and waited about 5 minutes it seems the NAV did a full reset and is working again. Before the icon in the upper right corner was the world with some satellites shown. When things started working correctly, the icon changed to read GPS. Don't know what caused this in the first place unless the system got confused during shipping. Hope it doesn't happen again but at least I have a fix.

Hey- my '03 MCS was rear ended. After all the body + mechanical was fixed My Nav was doing crazy stuff - like freezing. It turns out my disc got scratched at impact. Try cleaning your disc.

Sorry for the late response but I left my car over night and when I went to start it the next day, all was working as normal. I really don't know what happened but it's been fine ever since

2007 update discs for Nav

Lucky!! So - does anyone know the releas date for 2007 discs? I tried to buy 2006 Nov. 3d or so - but the parts desk guy would not sell them - basically. He said the new version will be out any day, and has tons of updates etc., Does anyone know more?

i had this happen to me once, while i was getting directions from the nav. I went to take a detour, and I set it to exlude toll roads, while I was STILL on a toll road and the nav froze. Well just the map, i was still able to switch to the computer and goto the menu screen. I tried all the things like everyone was saying. Well everything without getting out of the car, since I was on my way back from MTTS, and I was following some other MINI's. I was in split screen mode when this freeze happened. I went to menu and then into settings, and turned the split screen off and back into full screen mode. Because in full screen mode, you won't have the map when being navigated. After this I was able to kill the guidance, and go back to the map.

I was also able to go back to split screen mode.
